The "Trixie-Hendrix Las Pegasus Spectacular" is about to begin, a concert given by Hinny Hendrix, the greatest guitarist of all time, featuring Trixie who provides special effects. The show is supposed to signify the end of a feud between the two performers. But during the preparations, something goes horribly wrong and Hendrix disappears.

Could this be Trixie's plan? Or could this be the workings of a long-dead musician, whose own ill-will towards Hendrix extends beyond the grave?

Lyra believes the third answer is right.

Only thing is that seeing Vinyl again just unlocked a hidden trail of a murderer. Octavia must find out who the pony is and what was his motive for hurting Vinyl. But sniffing around might lead to more trouble for both Octavia and Vinyl. She won’t be alone of course, she’ll have old friends helping her including, Lyra Heartstrings, Bonbon, Apple Fritter, Beauty Brass, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle and Ditzy Doo.

Can Octavia and her friends uncover this murderer’s plot in time or will her efforts to save the mare she loved come too late?

During an evening performance at a private manor, Octavia is shown one of the rarest and finest instruments known to Equestria, a Stellar Variance cello. Just being in the same room as one is a dream come true for Octavia, but then she is given the chance to play it. It is an opportunity Octavia can't pass up, no matter the consequences.

Yet, the next morning Vinyl finds herself at the same private estate, searching for the friend and roommate who never came back.
