(Originally posted on EqD in April 2011. I originally meant to keep this as a one-shot, but wrote the second part after there was demand for it. I do like how the second part came out though, so no regrets!)

Twilight and Rarity decide to spend the evening together, but Twilight is plagued by a weird feeling that she can't quite name which sends a shiver up her spine every time she stares at Rarity out of the corner of her eye. Which is very often. What she can say is that Rarity is looking a lot more attractive tonight than usual.
Twilight's friends, determined to help Twilight and Rarity hook up, pull out all the stops to ensure that the two of them have a perfect evening. And with a little bit of help from strange places, including taking suggestions from an alligator and writing to the Princesses, Twilight and Rarity's friends just might succeed...

Applejack has had a secret crush. Not only that, she has another secret know to only her family. When Twilight was nearly raped because an old classmate was acting on false rumors from school, Applejack comes to comfort her friend. In doing so, the apple brandy (not AJ’s cousin) AJ brought to calm Twilight down allows Twilight to confess her deepest secret to Starlight Glimmer. But Starlight Glimmer is a lavender Unicorn, not the orange Earth Pony there with her.

A comedy of errors will fulfill four pony’s dreams.

Queen Chrysalis attacked Canterlot, brainwashed Twilight Sparkle's brother, kidnapped her former foalsitter, defeated her mentor in combat, and conquered her kingdom. She kidnapped the sisters of Twilight's friends, turned them against one another, and tried to drain all of Twilight's magic. Queen Chrysalis has, at every opportunity, done her very best to utterly destroy Twilight Sparkle's life.

For some reason, this has not caused the pony to fall in love with her.

However, due to Twilight's misunderstanding of changeling customs, it does mean they are now married. Twilight eventually managed to tell the Queen the truth, but she forgot that whether it's a kingdom or a heart, changelings conquer.

And since the changeling way of conquest didn't work, Chrysalis is determined to try the pony way. The only problem is, of course, she has no idea what that is. But she knows someone who does: Princess Cadance.

Now, with the absolutely sincere help of her mortal enemy, the pony she once locked in the caves beneath Canterlot while trying to steal her husband on their very wedding day, Queen Chrysalis is going to woo the sister-in-law of that very pony.

Surely this is the most perfect plan ever devised.

Takes place roughly after season five (so Starlight Glimmer is running around occasionally)

A few weeks ago, Chrysalis and her brood attacked Ponyville for revenge against Twilight. During the fight, the final spells of the two collide and create a portal that they're sucked into. The Princesses with the help of the others manage to summon them back only to find... that the two are marefriends!? How the buck did that happen!?

During a climatic battle, a panicked magical blast from Twilight results in Chrysalis receiving a crippling wound. Twilight dedicates herself to Chrysalis' recovery and, hopefully, redemption.

As Twilight will soon learn, Chrysalis' frozen heart is one that won't easily be melted.
