Fanfiction
Pretty much any and all of my favorite of favorites over to the right would be awesome reads.
Novels
This list will probably grow to be quite long.
The Legend of Eli Monpress by Rachel Aaron - about a wizard thief
The First Law Trilogy by Joe Ambercrombie - gritty dark fantasy with one of the best twists I've seen
The Chronicles of the Raven by James Barclay - decent fantasy about a mercenary company.
The Demon's Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan - urban fantasy fairly predictable
The Painted Man/The Warded Man by Peter Brett – Looooved this series. Very good.
Hard Magic by Larry Correia - pretty awesome noir fantasy with guns and magic.
Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne - pretty good urban fantasy. pretty lighthearted compared to
Dresden Files but similar in tone
Malazan Book of the Fallen: Military fantasy, longest damn series ever, gods aplenty, so many named characters its not even funny. Makes Wheel of Time look short.
The Red Wolf Conspirary by Robert V.S Redrick - Ship sets sail and plots and counterplots and alliances and stuff all go down
Blood Song by Ryan Anthony - interesting world being set up, fairly good
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Ruthorfuss - assume you've read it but if not, READ IT.
The Riyria Revelations by Micheal Sullivan - good fantasy world and epic, completed. pretty light hearted at first
The Whitefire Crossing - cliff climber is hired to smuggle a mage across the mountains while being chased. Excellent use of scenery, author knows her rock climbing
The Red Knight by Miles Cameron: Historically accurate fantasy with men vs monsters and nature. Fairly new, really good.
The Rook: A Novel by Daniel O’Malley - excellent urban fantasy. woman wakes up to discover she erased her own mind and that she is a high ranking official in Britian's "supernatural police"
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline: Book is a freaking love song to the 80’s. a kind of pop culture filled sci-fi fantasy mix set mostly in a virtual world in the near future.
Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks - Azoth must learn to navigate the assassins' world of dangerous politics and strange magics - and become the perfect killer. Better than the description would have you believe
The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch – Gentlemen thieves deal with plots and try to come out on top
The Farseer and Tawny Man Trilogies by Robin Hobb – go look the Farseer Trilogy, I can’t really explain it
Confessions of a D-List Supervillian by Jim Bernheimer – supervillian saves the world followed by the aftermath
Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey – sci-fi mystery thriller with a side of intergalactic war
Ex-Heroes by Peter Clines – Superheroes versus zombies
Fallen Blade series by Kelly McCullough – alchololic former assassin gets roped back into his old life
Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan – Flintlock fantasy taking place directly after a French Revolution type thing
Video Games
These will mostly be Xbox360 games
Currently playing
Mass Effect 3 - both multiplayer and single player are pretty good. Multiplayer is a grindfest if you go for weapons though.
Movies
The Raid: Redemption - best action movie I've seen in years. Watch it.
