Rose Bloom is even more timid than her mother, and Fluttershy is worried. She decides to help Rose get over her fears by introducing her to somepony really scary - Flutterbat.
The first 2000 words were written in one hour for the Quills and Sofas Halloween Spooktacular speedwriting contest. I finished the rest later on, after maybe 2-3 more hours.
All my stories take place in my headcanon for the future of mlp:fim, so you can see more of Rose Bloom and my particular brand of Appledash in Auntie Tia's Matchmaking Service and Going Out With A Boom.

I call Twilight my favorite pony, but as much as I love the idea of snuggling with her on a cold day with nothing to do except read books and drink hot tea/cocoa I recognize that she can be very scary at times and even dangerous. Heck, even if you discount her magic she's still got a rather sharp horn, not to mention hooves and teeth that could leave a nasty bruise at the very least.

Dangit... I want to like this. The idea sounded awesome and the parts I read seemed to be good quality. However, I can't stand Discord ships. They are always a deal-breaker for me.
Additionally, the parts I read did contain a bit of an issue:
Have you even seen the Nightmare Night episodes? I can buy her getting over her fears as time went on, but outright loving it is a bit of a stretch. "Always" loving it is flat-out incorrect.

I meant 'the holidays' plural, generally, as in festive occasions, including Hearthswarming and others, and i can see her coming to include Nightmare Night in that as the years pass. Flutters has a lot of character growth and becomes a lot less afraid, and that's part of what this story is about.

My main beef with this story is Fluttershy. Sure, I can see her wanting to toughen up Rose Bloom, but not like this. After that one Nightmare Night episode (I don't remember the name) where Fluttershy proved she could be scary but still didn't like it, I don't think she'd force her daughter to try something she had no interest in, let alone force her daughter to chase her scary bat form through the night.
