The Second Date

After their rather eventful time together at the Amity Ball, Sandbar and Yona have decided to try and continue seeing each other outside of school hours. Their first stop? The local cafe, where Sandbar becomes more than a little nervous about their afternoon together.

Very cute, though it took me a moment to accept some of Sandbar's more demonstrative moments. Still, goes to show how much he cares about Yona if he can feel self-conscious. Or, you know, any kind of conscious.

You are still separating dialogue and attribution, though. Example:

Sandbar chuckled.
"Oh yeah? Name two."

Aside from that, lovely fluff, and I don't just mean Yona's coat. Thank you for it.

"GAH!!!" The young stallion practically leapt out of his chair at the unexpected voice, but soon saw that it was only the waiter, who gave him a naturally incredulous look. [...] "Geez! I'm messing this up and she isn't even hereyet!"

Cute. But the poor guy's obviously making way too much out of this. If he spends time with his friend, that's okay. But put the “date” label on it, and he looses his cool.

Rather like Yona at the dance, come to think of it: If Yona had just had enjoyed herself with her friend, things would have been fine. But she got obsessed with “being perfect” and “being more Pony” for Sandbar, and that really messed things up.

Before Yonabar was a thing and the primary student pairing was Sandbar and Ocellus, I once had a humorous thought that the reason they hooked up was because Sandbar is completely devoid of personality meaning Ocellus is free to shape him into whatever sort of person she wants to feed on as much love as she wanted.
