The friends we take for granted are often the ones that leave the largest impact on our lives. When Spike falls seriously ill with a mysterious disease and the ponies strive to nurse him back to health, Twilight Sparkle comes to grips with this very realization about her number one assistant--and friend.

I had three particular goals for myself in writing this one:
--Focus on the dynamic between Twilight and Spike, because I think it seriously needs more attention in the series.
--Include a heart-to-heart between Rarity and Twilight, because they really haven't bonded much canon-wise.
--Attempt to write in the style of an episode. Albeit quite a dramatic episode. (Who am I kidding, I failed miserably at this one)

...This is what I love about this fandom. We can take the show and make it into whatever we want. I agree that they need to add more of relationship between Spike and Twilight as well. This was one of the best Spike fanfics I have read so far. Keep up the good work.

I'm a big Spike Rarity fan so when it said that she left him with lipstick all over his face I had this huge smile on my face.
I'm also a hopeless romantic so I get moved so much with simple emotions and I can say that I had to force myslef from crying because the minute I did I would not stop. You sir or mam are a gift thank you. Now have a bunch of pictures just because.

This instantly won the best story I've read ever, my god I cried, literally cried out and the emotion was all so well written I truly enjoyed this from start to finish, by far the best Twilight and Spike story I have ever read

You succeeded in all three goals. It was very impressively written and uplifting, and I admired how you portrayed characters and brought out the emotion. Very early on I realized that this would be a favorite of mine, and I hope I can develop my own writing to be more like this.

I was a little too close to crying. I'm not suprised I didn't. My Little Dashie dried up most of my tears. But I definetly would've cried if Spike had died.

Something I really like about fan fiction is that there are no rules. In actual published books, the has to be a happy ending. It takes the suspense right out of it sometimes. But with a fiction, you can do whatever you want. You never know for sure whether or not it will turn out peachy. They keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I actually thought Spike was going to die.
This was amazingly done. You definitely achieved writing the story in the style of an episode, I could even imagine parts where commercials would have been inserted. Brohoof to you, good sir. Brohoof to you. /)
