Trivia: I recall seeing some comments from Lauren Faust about this subject... She imagined that Celestia had raised Spike through his first few years, while Twilight was also studying under her. That would seem to explain how their more sibling-like relationship developed. (However, I don't think that detracts from this story at all.)

816489 Well she also did say that Rainbow Dash wouldn't make a good sister for Scootaloo and in all honesty the fandom tends to prove her wrong, she isn't always right about everything when it comes to this show no one is.
(I'm not bashing her by the way I actually think she's pretty good and it's a shame she's left the show)

I don't think RD would make a good big sister either. Scootaloo plays the role of a follower and admirer of RD. In the fics I've read with the two, RD doesn't realize to what extent she influences Scoot's life, and just likes soaking up the attention; until she has a sobering epiphany.

I'd d'aaawwwwww at this story if it wasn't for the fact it was too short to really draw me in and it resolved itself too quickly and it ignored alot of Spike's actual issues with Twilight. In many ways Twilight takes Spike for granted and hurts him in her zeal for studying i.e. the very first time we see Spike. She leaves Spike to clean up her messes. That's not the job of an assistant, that is a bloody maid.
