This story is a sequel to The Art of Rainbow Engineering

Royal science approval. The best kind.

Meanwhile... well, Rarity's heart is certainly in the right place.

Is there actually an edge to a rainbow or do the wavelengths just keep getting bigger or smaller to infinity?

Love it.

Ever heard of the funny demon voice prank?

Is this something that can really be done? Because that's something I'd like to do if it's real. FOR SCIENCE!!

wow this is ver intersting. Science!

Rainbows are powered by sunlight. The intensity drops to zero at short and long enough wavelengths. UV is absorbed by water.

Yes it can be done, see http://science.sciencemag.org/content/173/4003/1231 or just google 'infrared rainbow'. It's a bit harder if you don't have a weather pegasus to help.

Twilight plus Dash plus Science is always great. The little Photo Finish interlude was pretty amusing.

Super cool. I remember asking my physics teacher many years ago whether "colors" exist outside the visible range. And here Twilight experimentally verifies that they do. :rainbowkiss:

You have royal approval to temporarily override the weather schedule in the cause of science.

This is officially one of the most awesome sentences I have ever read.

“My tail is the coolest.”

It's probably emmiting radio waves then :trollestia:

This reminds me, sometime I need to pick up some sheets of Congo Blue and Primary Red theater gels and a cheap pair of welding goggles...

These little science stories of yours are always great. This is no exception! :rainbowdetermined2::twilightsmile:

That last line was hilarious.
I'm curious if there's going to be any more stories in this series.

You know the first thing I thought on reading this is if water absorbs UV and pegasi rainbows are made with magic then does that mean that pegasi rainbows have a UV band as well as an infared one?

Looks like you need to be a member of AAAS to view the article, whatever that means.
