WARNING: This story is completely separate from my Yu-Gi-Oh! Friendship is Magic story, which I have come to realize was a poorly formatted Mary-Sue fest. I want this story to be judged on its own merits.
About the picture, it was drawn and colored my me with pencil and crayon in about 2 hours (ponies were traced on a computer screen). I realize I'm not the best artist (heck, I'm no artist at all), but I wanted to have some image to represent my story.

A few paragraphs in the first chapter were in all italics. That really isn't necessarily. Second, your use of punctuation is a bit off. I saw a few places where you put commas where they aren't needed or started a new sentence when you could have just put a comma - simple things like that. Nothing is majorly wrong with it, you just need to touch up on your punctuation, is all.

Just kidding, the story was... alright, but you need an editor. As for the cover pic, try to draw skeletons for the human first, and use a face guide. When you color, try to do so in one direction, and color lighter, or else it will look like you just firmly grasped your pecil and tried to perform goriila surgery on that poor piece of paper. The background color choice should also change, becuase a blue of that tone is too strong, and detracts from the image.

It still exists though, other cards have similar effects to it and considering you've only seen the Battle City Tournament, the card pool is heaps bigger than you expect. It's pretty basic though, I tend to make my deck more complicated. Next to all my cards are from the first series anyway so I'm old fashioned like you are.

I'm not Old fashioned, I don't play anymore. I passed onto Magic:The gathering, much more complicated, intricate and intuitive.
One thing: booster packs of MTG contain 15 cards versus 9 for Yugioh.
Other thing, I don't play Magic anymore anyways. I still love the novels and the lore, it's just the game really sucked a lot of money out of me, that's why I sold my cards.

I have some other reasons for dislikes: My Yu-Gi-Oh! story seems to be the only one on this site without familiar characters (Anime characters, in one case I saw, Bruce Willis), and the prospect of a lack of familiarity is jarring to some.
Personally, I feel like I'm getting a strong fanbase from this story (I got like 5 new fans yesterday (not even including you) yesterday alone. As long as more people find it and enjoy it, that's really all I'm concerned about.
