The Summer Sun Celebration. A holiday commemorating Celestia's triumph against Nightmare Moon. A day to herald in the coming of summer. One of the most amazing, most magnificent, most wonderful events in all of Equestria.

But not for Celestia. For her, the "celebration" is nothing but regret.

I love the consept for this, good job!

In a way, this is Celestia's Penance... to be loved no matter what she does... she will always be adored, even when she knows she deserves scorn... this is her way of repenting

And she has 999 more celebrations to go.

That was good. It hits all the right spots for me and then some more.
Almost perfect. Here: have an upvote.

... I'm crying. What a monster. Celestia is not allowed to have personal feelings.

And this is simply the first one.

Excellent work...though I'll be honest.

This right here is why I would be a terrible ruler. I would have broken down, I would have screamed at the masses my loss, my pain, my rage at myself and those who'd dared to shame or belittle the night. I wouldn't create a Summer Sun Celebration, but instead a night of mourning. The thought that ponies would only remember Nightmare Moon rather than Luna as she was would be unacceptable to me. And in my grief at trying to right that wrong, I'd become a monster, a necessary one, but a monster none the less.

I would be feared, not loved.

I would know only sorrow and regret, blinding me to those who would need me in the here and now.

And ultimately, it wouldn't be long before I'd care less for mortals, seeing them as fleeting dust that bleats and dies while my only true hope and light hangs upon the moon, waiting to return and destroy me for my sins.

Yeah, I put WAY too much thought into this, but in her shoes I'd handle thing way worse. Good thing I'm not Sunbutt, eh?

Anyway, great work and looking forward to more!

I wonder how long it took Celestia to forgive herself after Luna had returned.

I have reviewed this HERE.

Misses the whole point of Nightmare Moon.
