Your portrayal of the Nightmare is interesting; it's not nearly so bellicose and evoking of the image of a moustache-twirling-villain than in many other tales. It seems a reflection of Luna's own growing desperation. It's not promising anything ridiculous more than respect, appreciation, strength.
Keep up the good work. I'm very interested to see how you potray Celestia in the coming conflict. Will she too have more nuances, more complexity than at first appears?
Who knows.

This story begins before Luna becomes Nightmare Moon. Where it ends is still a matter of debate for me, as I know little of what I'm writing until I've actually written it. I mostly shoot from the hip as to how it feels with where to end a story.
I will, however, say that it won't cut out now. The story will continue at least until after Luna is broken of the shackles of Nightmare Moon.

Submitting to Equestria Daily? Well...
I once submitted a one-shot I'd written which I felt was worthy of Equestria Daily promotion. I received an e-mail back telling me my story was a train wreck, despite having nothing but positive reviews otherwise. My story was good, but not worthy of Equestria Daily.
If I wanted this to make it to EqD, I'd first have to hire about three editors to ensure continuity of the I/we sentence structure (which I sometimes break the rules of to preserve sentence flow), as well as rereading them three or four times to make sure I'd gotten all the glaring errors (I'm a great natural proofreader), and finally submit it, take all of their critique to heart and make whatever fixes they so desired, and hope for a pre-reader that likes my story premise enough to not English language it to death.
I'm happy with the story in its current form, and I don't mind nopony knowing who I am; it makes me happy just knowing that you like it enough to want it to have more exposure. For that flattery, I thank you.
If you would like more people to read this story, feel free to discuss it in places where interested readers may be.
I could submit it to EqD, but I'm fairly certain it would just be denied.

I'd just like to say that I am very much enjoying this story. I have a feeling it's about to really show that it's not afraid to have the characters deal with the consequences of their actions.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard, "oh, Luna just got hit with the black magic whammy and was turned into Nightmare Moon. They're two separate beings, and Luna's completely innocent." And I'm not saying I hate her and just want to see Luna suffering, on the contrary. If I've only learned one thing in all my time on this site, it's that a writer has to respect their characters. I have no problem with your external troubles becoming manageable with the help of the Elements, but your inner troubles shouldn't just go away with the fading of the rainbow lights from them too.
I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next.
