Applejack and Fluttershy have been together a long time. They have a lot in common, including a mutual love for Everfree. The forest is their home. It had been for centuries, and it would be for as long as they lived.

Or rather, that’s what Applejack had thought. But then a pair of traveling griffons began enticing Fluttershy with stories of life outside of the forest. With the draconequus’s interests shifting away from Applejack, she takes it upon herself to prove that she's not just a dull forest-dweller.

In an Equestria filled with various different types of creatures, Lightning Dust never quite fit in, in a number of ways, not the least of which was the flight suit for her position in the Wonderbolt cadets was only made with other species in mind. She goes to a seamstress to get it fixed, but all the questions she has to answer there gets her one in response, one that she doesn’t know the answer to.

Scootaloo is a changeling, but that's OK. Changelings are citizens now, and she's ready to do her part to show the world changelings can be friendly too.

Together, the three of them are getting by, one day at a time. They may never get their cutie marks, but that's not going to stop them from having fun, finding their talents, and maybe even going a week without causing massive amounts of property damage. Maybe.

Meanwhile, Babs Seed is still blissfully unaware of the unusual destiny that awaits her, Diamond Tiara is slowly finding her place in the world, and Ponyville is still the weirdest town in Equestria. But then again, what else is new?

Gallus and Silverstream have settled into newly wed life, and couldn't be happier living in Equestria together. That is, until they learn of some truly shocking news: Queen Novo has died!

With her cousin Skystar due to ascend to the throne, Silverstream immediately begins making plans to return to Mount Aris to be there for her grieving cousin. Not wanting to let his wife go alone, Gallus pleads with Princess Twilight to be allowed to accompany Silverstream back home.

When Princess Twilight gives her blessings, Gallus prepares to return to a place he has little familiarity with. But nothing will stop him from being there for his wife, as she and her extended family join all of Mount Aris and Seaquestria in mourning the passing of their queen.
