This story is a sequel to Stallions of Harmony - Longest Night

Before, Soarin was an awful excuse for a Wonderbolt, constantly slaved around by his best friend and doubted by everypony.
Now, his life is finally awesome. Quiet, friendly town, great friends, coolest roommates he can hope for, rent to pay and no job, no paycheck, no bits...

...okay, so nopony's perfect. But that's not a problem for a capable, young playcolt in a small, rural town. All he needs to do, is to find a job. How hard can it be?

Crazy self proclaimed time traveler.

(Written as my submission to Equestria Daily's annual Horror Fiction contest)

The Everfree Forest is a dangerous place filled with wild creatures, exotic flora, and mysteries abound. Most ponies who choose to explore it are wise enough to do so during the day. Even Zecora, who has chosen to live in the forest, does not leave her home at night.

Stories passed from generation to generation tell of monsters, ghosts, and demons that would feel right at home in the most terrible of nightmares living in the Everfree, but most ponies chalk them up to nothing more than old mare's tales to discourage young colts and fillies from entering the forest at night. However, on a Nightmare Night not so long ago, four young colts decided to disregard these stories and enter the Everfree at night to prove their courage. It was supposed to be a simple trip to the castle at the center of the forest followed by a quick return to Ponyville.

Unfortunately for them, the most terrifying nightmares are the ones you have while you're awake.

The Spring is Sprung Feast is a yearly tradition in Ponyville, full of food, fun and dancing into the early hours of the morning. Derpy asks Rarity for help 'dressing to impress' when Cloud Kicker sets her sights on Time Turner as her date, but Rarity finds that she gets more from helping the clumsiest pony in town than mere job satisfaction.

With Nightmare Night so close by, the residents of Ponyville are so busy setting up for the night's events. It'd be foolish for any pony to leave things to the last minute.
Well, then you have Queen Drinksalot aka Berry Punch; Ponyville's lovable town drunk. Who did something crazier than leaving things to the last minute, she left it to drunk Berry. Who knows what kind of mischief she got into last night, in preparation for Nightmare Night? It's up to Berry Punch to make sure Nightmare Night goes well for both Pinchy and Cheerilee or suffer the shame of spoiling the evening.
