Silver Spoon has a hellhound problem.

There's no problem Sweetie Belle can't solve.

this slaps

such a cute, short SoL story that accomplishes everything it sets out to do

sweetie belle is best crusader 10/10

...and she suspected Rarity would be put out if she came back and learned that other ponies than her had been having breakdowns in the Boutique.

:raritydespair: "Is nothing sacred? A mare can't even weep into her own chaise lounge without finding somepony else's tear stains on the satin!"

Ooh, that's certainly one potential role for the Silvers. I like it.

Oh dear. No good ever comes of glarping.

It says a lot about a culture when it develops a song called "Whoops, I’m Being Swallowed By A Hydra." It probably says more about me that I started singing it to the tune of "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer."

Whoops, I'm being swallowed by a hydra
Trottin' just outside the Everfree.
You can say they've only got one stomach
But me and grandpa know that they have three...

Fantastic inscription on the tags.

“Great-great-great-great-grandpa Quicksilver did have a full pirate crew under him to help plunder all the raw materials he needed, that’s definitely true.”

There are certainly worse ways to create a lasting legacy. I wonder of the Silvers still maintain a tradition of learning the art of the cutlass.

Lovely stuff, and an excellent use of all of Sweetie's talents. The best Silver Spoon story I've read since The Silver Standard... though that admittedly isn't the widest field. Still, thank you for it.

Delighted it slaps! Wee SoL pieces are fun to whip out every so often, especially when they can include excellent crusaders.

Never stop being a superb commenter. My comments sections always need more off-cuff song titles given proper verses and everything.

Deid glad you approve of the whole thing. Fleshing out the role (and piratical origins) of the Silvers was fun to splice in as well.

Some cute stuff... it’s a shame that Hasbro felt that Diamond Tiara’s and Silver Spoon’s stories were completed, as something like this would have worked well in an episode!

9847731
It's definitely a shame they've been left behind. There could have been plenty of story potential in their gradual growth into better ponies, a la Starlight. Definite School of Friendship material.

That was really sweet. Excellent use of Sweetie, Silver, and Diamond. Also, good work incorporating Sweetie's love of showtunes.

I've always liked Silver, she just seems to have this certain air of potential to her, y'know? It's a shame we don't get to see her more often.

Down, I said! Get off, you stupid — glark!

Silly but enjoyable

Nice. :)

Also, it looks like, as it happens the one-thousandth story I've Favourited on FIMFiction.

Oh nice! Always glad to see more Silver Spoon, and I really like your idea of making her family into silversmiths. (Plus having the family fortune started by a pirate rings wonderfully true!) And everyone's perfectly in character, too. :unsuresweetie:

Cute, fun, and adorable.

No other words are really needed. And a very nice take on silver spoon with diamond even. B

Bravo! Not easy to do.

9847624
Never change.

The unicorn grinned and straightened. “If I don’t know the lyrics, then don’t worry,” she said. “I can make all sorts of words up.”

Just like a proper dictionary.

9847981
Glad you like it! Sweetie belting out a showtune or two seemed like just the remedy for a wild wee hellhound.

9848176
Heaps of potential, aye, and tragically underexplored in the show proper. They could have mined loads more story potential from herself and Diamond.

9848261
There's a greater-than-average amount of verse in this comments section, and I'm very fine with that.

9848298
My two favourite descriptors! :raritywink:

9848543
Thank you, and well done! That's a good quantity of horsewords to have read and approved of.

9848628
Fleshing out characters with fun wee backgrounds like that, as well as gratuitously involving pirates, shan't ever stop being a joy. Glad you like it!

9848683
Thank you very much! :pinkiehappy:

Concurred. Fan's an excellent soul.

Now there's a blast from the past, meme-wise. You can't beat the classics.

This is a wonderful blend of your style and the show's. I could almost imagine this as the episode that you would have written if you'd been hired to write for MLP, and now I'm very sad that won't happen. Beautiful blend of zaniness and heartfelt friendship moments, and wonderful characterization throughout.

9849440
Hah, very glad you like it! A mix of zaniness and heartfelt friendship was what I was going for, and it's gratifying to see you reckon it was achieved.

Though, alas, any story that would begin 'If Carabas'd been hired to write for MLP,' is one that ends ten seconds later with, '—whereupon he was whipped out of the studio and into the street, and continued to be deservedly whipped there for all his sins.'

That was a sweet story. It had a familiar (and yes, show-like) structure, and it worked well with that.

Read this, Quicksilver, and this popped into my head. "The whole crew were affeered o Flint, an Flint were affeered o Silver. With apologies to RLS.
Strange things wander about in my head at night with a tad o rum to help.

9849828
Thank you! It's nice to ken it's close to the feel and spirit of the show.

9849995
Hah, that's a connection I'd missed. Stevenson's definitely a good thing to have wander about your head at night. :pinkiehappy:

What a sweet story!

I'm really sad the show didn't explore Diamond and Silver more after the CMC got their marks. I think they could have made for interesting and fun characters. They could have kept similar personalities, but without the mean side to them, and it would have been fun to see the wipers balance that. I guess we'll have to stick with fanfic for that. If it's as enjoyable as this story was, though, I think we're in good hands

9852656
Thank you very much! It's unfortunate the show didn't do anything more with Diamond and Silver. Ex-villains redeeming themselves have excellent story potential, and they could have joined the ranks alongside Discord and Starlight if they'd had a few more episodes of their own. Glad to have written this to try and cover some of that deficit, and much obliged for the vote of confidence.

Neat presentation of the Silver household.

The little Cerberus seemed to be having the time of their life, as it forced one body to act on three puppies’ worth of enthusiasm, and all manner of knocked-over tables and torn-up scraps suggested the fun they’d been having. The same couldn’t be said for Diamond, who was treating it to a large number of words neither she nor Sweetie were probably meant to know. She only stopped to glance round at Silver Spoon and Sweetie Belle. “Finally!” she exclaimed. “Get it off!”

Amazingly cute. Also, always gotta love seeing a reformed bad guy receiving harmless karma.

“Hellhound,” said Silver Spoon in a quiet, trembly, tired voice. “She’s a hellhound. Same species as Cerberus. Her name’s Orthus. We’ve got her because she needs a set of collars, and I’ve got to design them for her. And we need you to sing at her because that’s how you calm hellhounds down, if we’re remembering right.” There was a hitch in her voice. “Please sing at her.”

Neat.

“And I guess he’d always have been testing and improving on the weapons and armour he built for them, on account of all the bloodthirstiness—”

“Well, not quite like that,” Sweetie Belle said quickly.

Exactly like that!

Great short story.

9853195
Chuffed you like it! Fleshing out the Silver household and background was good fun ... as was just a wee bit of harmless karma at Diamond's expense. :scootangel:

This was a nice story.

Cute and give a smile... Good fic.

‘Whoops, I’m Being Swallowed By A Hydra’

I must obtain a copy of this song... :pinkiecrazy:

Please do not fight Tartarian escapees.
Really, do not.

But they're the only things that could possibly give me a challenge! :rainbowdetermined2:

9861099

I must obtain a copy of this song...

FanOfMostEverything obliged with the first verse in these very comments. The rest consists of muffled gurgles as might be produced by a pony mid-being-swallowed, kept vaguely in tune.

9861114 Lol vore.

Now to make this a story... XXX-rated... and then there needs to be an anime version, because of course there will.

And then that needs to be adapted into an awful live-action series on Netflix that everyone hates!

Then the cycle shall be complete. :pinkiecrazy:

What about the fanfiction?

9849468

Though, alas, any story that would begin 'If Carabas'd been hired to write for MLP,' is one that ends ten seconds later with, '—whereupon he was whipped out of the studio and into the street, and continued to be deservedly whipped there for all his sins.'

We apologise again for the content of this episode. The people responsible for whipping the guest writer have been whipped.

9865263 I think that's a given.

Hmmm... I wonder how bad a movie/series has to be to have ZERO fanfiction..,
(checks the dark rectum of the Internet)

There is actually "Norm of the North", "Pixels" and "The Emoji Movie" fanfiction... so, yeah. The biggest turds ever laid by Hell-eye-wood still get fanfiction. :facehoof:

9865263
They'd continue in that vein. But they're canny enough to realise that it's whips all the way down.

9866348
Those responsible for hiring the people who have been whipped, would like to inform you that they have just been whipped. The whipping will continue in an entirely different fashion.

Well, this is just an all-around nice, light, and fluffy little story. Delightful stuff!

9897735
Thank you! Some fluff's fun to jot down every now and then.

Is a feel good story. Can confirm it made me feel good. So, very nice work! All need help sometimes, especially if the way forward doesn't seem like it's clear to see.:yay:
