This was both frightening and intriguing. Also, very sweet with that scene with Celestia and Twilight at the end. During the fic, I was gripped and with my mind constantly making comparisons to the Doctor Who episode "Listen". Was there really something in there with her or was Twilight just being paranoid? Who can say...

First person perspective complimented the mood nicely.
Unfortunately after reading this fully my mind imagined a different more whimsical perspective on the story. My theory (which shouldn't be taken seriously) is that another student used a spell on a spider to give it the ability to communicate. The spider then escaped by drilling a hole in the window and crawing to the statue garden. There he is tormented by whatever's in there along with Discord. The spider returns to the castle to escape this torture and proceeded to use "The Voice" for nefarious purposes.

This was an excellent use of first person POV. Whatever your intent was concerning the voice, in my view it was Discord somehow sensing FROM HIS STONE PRISON that Twilight Sparkle would be the cause of his undoing and attempting to nip the problem in the bud, either by actually harming her, or, worse, rendering her insane.

That was amazingly good! It took me two or three read throughs, but, I think I figured it out.
The voice was Discord, reaching out from his statue and feeding upon Twilight's magic, and or emotions, until he was strong enough to possess her. Also, the reason he never even tried to discord her, was from the protection Celestia left on her when she defeated him.
Of course I could be WAYYYYY off. Not the first time that it has happened. Once again, awesome story!
