Shortly after the Freindship Games, Twilight Sparkle began to develop a crush on Sunset Shimmer, but has always been too afraid to admit it. One day however, she finally decides to ask Sunset out on a date.

My first attempt at a romance/ship fic, so don't expect this to be anything above average.

What he does get, is... how do they put it? Brand new exciting opportunities.
He never wanted to be a Prince, nor to rule. But he's stuck with the job, which means having ponies relying on him.
So he's doing his best.
Which would be fine, except ponies seem happy to keep finding brand new ways to make it harder for him.

Twilight Sparkle has always been a mare with a plan, and tonight that is going to be tested. The three most important mares in her life are all in town. They of course know of each other, and are happily accepting of Twilight's polygamous nature. However, Trixie has never met Sunset in person. Will they get along, or will there be tension which could possibly ruin a nice evening at the carnival?

After agreeing to be her date, Princess Twilight Sparkle crosses the portal to accompany Sunset Shimmer to the prom. They're not going alone of course; Sunset's human friends are coming, too. With good friends, beautiful dresses, fancy dinners, and formal dancing, Twilight thinks she's really going to enjoy the prom. Of course, what Twilight and Sunset are looking forward to most is spending more time with each other. The prom will certainly be a night to remember.

On a stormy night, Twilight surprisingly stops by Sunset's apartment. Only the visit isn't because Twilight wants to surprise her girlfriend. Sunset learns that Twilight has been through some rough times and she'll help the girl in any way possible to get her through those times.

After all that they have been through, Sunset Shimmer and Twilight Sparkle's bond has grown into a strong and deep friendship. But as their relationship continues to mature, they will have to face challenge after challenge that will put the bond between them to the test.

Following the events of the Friendship Games, Sunset's homesickness wins out and she returns to Equestria. Though forgiven by Twilight and pardoned by Celestia, she still faces some resentment from the citizens of Equestria.

But one pony believes that everypony deserves a second chance. Even if she denies it.
