It happened. Against all odds, Princess Celestia installed as her prime minister a stallion who, while undeniably popular with some segments of Equestrian society, leaves other ponies cold. This includes Mayor Mare, who has an audience with him but first wants to ask her occasional drinking buddy one question: Why?

In an alternative universe the ninjas from the hidden village of Konoha discover an ancient temple used to protect a forgotten clan and to test ninja's loyalty. In a complete twist of fate, a team of ninja manages to seal a demon fox inside a stone orb and banish it from existence. But where did it go? And how could this possibly have an effect on the ponies of Equestria?

When something in the Everfree Forest starts preying on the citizens of Ponyville, the ponies must decide where the line is between pony and monster and how far they are willing to go to protect those they love. Applejack and Rarity feel especially strongly when Apple Bloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle are caught up in the problem. Twilight seeks advice from Zecora but her friends are left to decide amongst themselves when the two go missing in the Everfree.

Meanwhile, Mayor Mare faces an attack of a different kind when a pony who would like to replace her accuses her of not protecting the citizens well enough, Scootaloo comes to terms with her own limitations and the ponies confront a question that forces them to face up to some home truths about their own lives and histories. What DOES make a good mother?

At exactly 8:47 this morning, in the small town of Ponyville a mere several miles from the capital of Equestria, one of the most wanted criminals of Equestria and the greater outlying areas was arrested on several counts of one of the worst crimes that can ever possibly be committed in the world. The absolute pinnacle of criminal intent:
Non.
Consensual.
Hugs.

A breakdown in relations between the recently recolored Hope Hollow and Ponyville has Equestria's favorite unicorn trio trekking out to the Hollow to get to the bottom of the matter. Along the way, they'll be drawn into the center of a disappearance mystery, the revelation of a long-lost member of a Great and Powerful family, and a showdown with a villain who's more than meets the camera's eye.

As the mayor of Ponyville, it is Mayor Mare's duty to make sure that all is well and safe for the citizens of the town she governs and serves for. It is a big responsibility for a mare such as herself, and one which she takes seriously, fulfilling her duties with pride and passion.

One minute, Twilight is trying to back out of her way of life. The next, she finds herself thrown out of it. Twilight awakens to find herself in a mysterious town that is nice, quiet, and peaceful. Too peaceful. How has she ended up here? And just where and what is “here”? Ponyville, a town next to a dark forest and bordered by mist both beside and above, and populated by ponies with numbers instead of names. Twilight must figure out what information is sought by the ever-present, ever-changing Number Two and keep it from them as she desperately tries to find a way out of the town called Ponyville. She is not a number. She is a free mare!
But...why did she want out in the first place?

(MLP does The Prisoner (1967 TV series). Not necessarily at Adventure levels, but probably well beyond Slice of Life; there doesn't seem to be a tag that accurately represents this type of story. Suggestions?)
