Rainbow Dash has been saving a lot of ponies lately.

This worries Twilight, because there used to not even be enough ponies to save on the schedule that Rainbow Dash saves them. So she runs some numbers and comes to a startling conclusion

A griffon with a Cutie Mark? This does not bode well for Equestria. If the Cutie Mark Crusaders have achieved what was previously considered unachievable... it could have tremendous consequences for the future of Equestria.

Twilight confronts the Tree of Harmony about the way it never sends her on Friendship Missions. The Tree explains itself. Kind of.

The original version of this story got 4th place in the Writeoff Association's 56th contest, "*Princess Not Included."

Against her will(mostly), Starlight agrees to protect Ponyville when Twilight and her other five friends are busy saving the entire world. The unicorn only agreed to this startling position because she actually believed that she wouldn't be doing any saving immediately.

She didn't think villains could pop out of nowhere, but they did, much to her chagrin. It's up to her to defeat them one by one, with her faithful butler--er, friend Spike and Robin...I mean, Trixie at her side.

Unwilling to risk bringing her friends into the situation and endanger them, Fluttershy decides on a riskier tactic

If she could reform Discord, why not the Tyrant of the Crystal Empire. After all, with his spell keeping her from betraying his presence, it might be her only hope. Can she kill the Dark King with Kindness? Or will the ancient sorcerer once more stretch his shadow across Equestria?

A few months have gone by since the last season of MLP, and it seemed as though the fandom would slip quietly into obscurity. But strange things are happening, things nobody can explain. People who have never seen the show report sightings of strange monsters wandering at night. Bronies develop strange powers, and sometimes they disappear. Strangest of all are the blurry images of familiar characters, all seeming convinced of terrible danger just around the corner.

Jacob never imagined his life would be anything but ordinary. He’d finish his degree, make a living, maybe have a few kids. Until he almost got eaten on his way home from school and found himself thrust headlong into danger he could barely understand. Jacob (and his humanity) may not survive it.

Princess Luna decides that risking the lives of the Elements of Harmony time and time again is hardly the most sensible or strategic response to the threats Equestria faces, leading her to seek an alternative solution, one which will ensure Equestria's protection in a more efficient manner.

The vagrants and outcasts of Equestria then find themselves presented with a proposition, one which could ensure their futures and prosperity... Assuming they survive the tasks requested of them that is.

Rainbow Dash had been fighting in the war since she was a teenager, who heard the call for willing soldiers. She thought, in her youthful stupidity, that she would get to do awesome stuff, like she had never gotten the chance to do when she was a filly. She had never imagined that she would lose a wing, have her ear split, or become caught in an unending mental torment. However, when herself and a fellow soldier are assigned to be Princess Celestia's personal bodyguards on a visit to Ponyville, by request of an Earth Pony by name of Applejack, the information that is brought to light sets the three on a trip through Equestria, on a search for an answer to their own lives.

Every chapter is going to alternate between each characters POV. Rated teen for very very very mild gore, (but not enough to consider it a tag), and Cloudsdale curses. Tagged dark for obviously war. No spoilers here, because I think I wrapped it up in the above description.
