Some people say that Celestia and Luna are useless. That they lounge in the castle while delegating all their responsibilities to hard working, underappreciated, exceptionally well-read students. That even when faced directly with threats to kingdom and country, they fold like cheap origami and wait to be rescued.

Well...yes. From a certain point of view. Specifically, the secret to alicorns alicorn youth and vitality? Sex. And Luna? She hasn't had a proper partner in 1,000 years.

Sol was a stallion living a secret life, but after an incident involving his father's side of the family, he was hidden away and sealed within a crystal. That was over one thousand years ago, and has since then remained dormant, waiting to be awakened to aid Equestria in a time of dire need, or when it's finally safe enough for him to return. At least, that's how it was supposed to go.

Having been accidentally awoken, Sol must now adjust to the present world, cope with what he's lost with time, sort out his growing feelings for another pony, and eventually, accept his position in this modern-day Equestria. However, even after a thousand years, some grudges aren't so easily forgotten.

All contaminants removed, recovered specimens moved to research facility RX-F8262(King's Station). Both vessels reassigned, families and affiliated parties/interests have been notified. All information of Project I71A deleted. Project continuing.

Project I71A Update 2: Progress slowing on I71A. Encountered unexpected results. King's Station crew reporting strange activity/behavior. Administration has been notified.

Project I71A Update 3: Contact lost with King's Station. Possible containment breach. Facility quarantined, Imperial Star Destroyer Voracity dispatched to investigate.

Project I71A Update 4(Final): Unauthorized docking at King's Station made by unknown Correllian corvette-class vessel(Model: CR90) confirmed. Be advised: major violation of quarantine is now likely, containment failure is expected. Vessel currently being tracked above planet E-44719(Equestria), Voracity dispatched on intercept course. Local governor(Princess Celestia) has been informed.

Changelings and ponies had always been natural enemies of each other, especially with the crystal ponies when they were around. Why wouldn't they be? Changelings were like parasites, feeding off the love that ponies gave off and driving them to illness.

However, Changelings had begun to decline. What started out with as seven hives have diminished down into three, all of which had gone into hiding so well that most ponies didn't know what changelings even were. Even Celestia had not seen one for quite a while, a long feat for an immortal pony.

Until she found a nymph. A new Changeling Queen.

Unable to find it within herself to abandon the changeling, Celestia ends up taking the nymph back to Canterlot under guise as Twilight Sparkle. The plan was simple; find the hive that Twilight belonged to and return her back to be raised with her race.

Of course, despite everything she learned through her long life, she had forgotten that things were never that simple.

For starters, she did not anticipate herself to grow fond of Twilight as time began to pass, or to beam in happiness when Twilight began to refer to her as mom.

After being dragged into a Pinkie Pie party, gathering the Elements of Harmony, and facing off against Nightmare Moon, Twilight Sparkle just wants a good nights sleep. Unfortunately for her, she lives in Ponyville, and somepony just crashed into her bedroom. Somepony that looks unusually like her... albeit more stallion-ish.

This stallion, Dusk Shine, claims to be an older version of Twilight, from an alternate universe. How come he's so different? Twilight never graduated from Princess Celestia's tutorage or learned to play the guitar, or... befriended her monstrous, demonic self?
