Rainbow Dash takes in a baby Pegasus that was left on her doorstep and affectionately names her Cumulus, she finds motherhood to be harder than it looks but loves the young Pegasus to death. But when it's revealed that Cumulus was born blind, Rainbow finds it harder to raise her with the pain of knowing that Cumulus will never see her mother's face. And as Cumulus grows, she has to fight to find her true self with her disability, and to see the brighter side of life...even if she can't literally see it.

This is a personal story for me, because I am adopted and I do have ADHD, Organic Brain Syndrome and I'm Emotionally Impaired...and trying to get through life with a disability is not an easy ride.

Scootaloo is just a lonely filly living on the streets of Baltimare. After the tragic loss of her parents, she spends her days trying to survive on her own. Nobody will take her in, and she struggles to find a good place to rest each night. It is a bleak existence for her, one that she feels she will never escape from.

But when a passing cart drops a small package in front of her cardboard box, will she find something that will bring some light into her life?

Scootaloo has always kept one small fact about herself from her friends, and she hoped to keep it forever. After reluctantly telling Rainbow Dash what it is, the two pegasi, the older in particular, learn what a sister truly is.

This story takes place between S3 E6, through S3 E7, and beyond into its own tangent. The only canon I, well, ignore would be what transpires after S3 E7.

I don't have any pre-readers or editors, so if anyone wants to do that then just say so.

Rainbow Dash abandons Scootaloo in a vain attempt to do great things in New York City. While Fluttershy isn't keen to Rainbow Dash's real motivation, she soon becomes very aware of what it's like dealing with kid with so many problems.

Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle made it official; they got married. While on their Honeymoon, a tragic situation back home pushes a young filly to the edge. When they come back , they take it upon themselves to show Scootaloo the light at the end of the tunnel, whether she wants them to or not.

When Derpy is asked to talk to the students of Cheerilee's class about her disability, will things work out, or will the gray pegasus get tongue-tied and embarrassed as she notices the pity others give her for being different? Will she be able to stand up for herself, or will her emotions unravel before her eyes?

I literally got this idea late one night and decided to roll with it. I have no idea if my mind was spouting gibberish. But critique is welcome, as long as it's constructive.

They say you can’t miss what you’ve never had. And Scootaloo would be inclined to agree with them. Except, she did have all a little filly would want from a home, and she does miss what she lost. Not that anypony would help her get it back.
