Sunset Shimmer returns to Equestria now that she's finally graduated high school & college. She asks for forgiveness from the ones she wronged on the night she stole Twilight's crown. Twilight Sparkle and Spike are celebrating their first ever Hearth’s Warming in Ponyville. It’s still a working process for Twilight to get use to friendship in a village but Spike on the other hand doesn’t mind at all especially his encounters with other ponies.

Fluttershy out of all the ponies wanted to know Spike since he’s a talking dragon in all. She asked Twilight to take care of Spike on Hearth’s Warming Eve to which Twilight accepted. Spike didn’t understood why but he didn’t have plans whatsoever. When Fluttershy takes him to her place, she not only gives him the support she has towards animals, but also her sweet personal feelings towards him.

Spike's feelings for Rarity have grown stronger over the years. He feels like Rarity is just ignoring his feelings, for Spike, this feeling like rejection. This causes minor depression in the little dragon, but as the 'rejection' continues, it could lead to 'life-threatening depression.

I've always loved my six best friends since we were just kids. But now that we're older they're acting differently to me, and I find myself acting in a similar matter to each of them. Our feelings for each other is becoming much different. Will our friendship remain true as we go on with our lives? I wonder.

Spike feels like a Dragon without purpose and without anything to offer his friends. He leaves Ponyville without warning his friends, in an attempt to find his purpose on his own.
Princess Luna finds Spike and shows him the nightmares that his friends have been having in his absence, in an attempt to convince him to return to Ponyville of his own free will. Spike learns that dreams are the quickest road to the heart.

Hoping that finding a special somepony will help Starlight Glimmer feel more included, Princess Twilight Sparkle and her friends encourage her to start dating.
The whole situation means that Spike becomes an advice guru, Pinkie Pie becomes a spy, Twilight becomes an overprotective friend... And Starlight has to deal with it all!

Spike has been spending a lot of time with Flitter, a local pony in town who is (at best) an acquaintance of the Mane 6. Rarity sees this and launches straight into action, enlisting Twilight Sparkle's aid in getting to the bottom of Flitter's intentions with her dear Spikey-Wikey.
