This story is a sequel to Fractured Moon

A week after being freed from her prison by Nightmare Moon, Celestia has adapted to her new situation, she is prohibited from being involved in politics or any kind of decision making, Celestia isn't even allowed control over her precious sun. But this has given her the opportunity for a new career and she is about to open her own bakery.

Not all prisons have bars and guard towers. Celestia will experience first hoof how it is to live in Nightmare Moon's Lunar Empire. She will have to learn to be watched constantly and have every move of her observed and noted.

The Lunar Empire is firmly under Nightmare Moon's control, but there are still those that prefer the old way's over the new ones. And of course there is the issue of Rarity's remaining friends, where are they and what are they planning.

This is not a direct sequel to Fractured Moon but I still recommend reading it first to get some more context about the founding Lunar Empire and Celestia's release.

Set in the Equestria at War universe, but you don't need to play the mod to understand this story.

It's one thing to come back to Equestria after a long time. It's another thing entirely when your brother's been turned to stone.

That's what Scorpan will go through, returning to Equestria one month after Twilight's coronation. He heard the stories of what happened to Tirek, and he has to find out for himself if they're true. When he sees it with his own eyes, he has no choice but to ask himself a lot of questions...and none of them might have an easy answer.

Directly following the events of “Keep Calm and Flutter On” Discord and Celestia call each other out on these little ‘disclaimers’ and try to explain their words while still maintaining their new friendship. They soon agree on some interesting conditions for Discord’s recent reform, leading to the castle, some Royal Canterlot Voice from Luna, cake, and an interesting night and morning as Discord figures out how to relate to his former princess foes in a much less evil (if as obnoxious as ever) sort of way. He especially enjoys his new ‘friendly’ way of bothering Celestia.

Later, following Tirek’s defeat (and Discord’s final reform), the chaos master and the sun princess assess how their friendship has gone and where it might go from here. Luna throws in her two bits as well. Naturally, cake is eaten. And, of course, no matter how reformed he may become, Discord ‘loves’ teasing Celestia as much as ever…and it’s sort of grown on Celestia too.

(Rated Teen really only because of some suggestiveness, and I just want to err on the side of caution :) )

Before everyone can start assuring Twilight she'll do great as ruler of Equestria, Twilight refuses and explains why it wouldn't make sense for her to take the throne. From there, the conversation swerves.

This is a story for those who think Celestia and Luna retiring is a bad idea, and that Twilight found her true calling as a teacher rather than a ruler.

Luna after seeing the horrible conditions of batponies living in Equestria, being treated as second rate citizens, and seeing Celestia unable to do anything about it, has turned into Nightmare Moon again and declared war against Equestria and Princess Celestia.

The elements of Harmony have split up with Rarity being touched by the plight of the batponies choosing to side with Luna and later Nightmare Moon, while the other elements sided with Celestia.

Now after a long and bitter war Nightmare Moon is victorious and has formed the Lunar Empire. But will building a new nation be as easy as destroying one?
