An athlete like Lightning Dust is no stranger to doctor visits, and a nurse like Speedy Recovery is no stranger to receiving patients. It would take something pretty cataclysmic to throw them both off.

Or maybe all it takes is three bolded words on a psych results sheet.

This is an entry in the Snippet Series, an anthology of old oneshots I (and my good buddy Str8aura) wrote based around interesting pics I found. New ones will be posted every Thursday for the foreseeable future. If you like this one, check out the others!

Ponies attain redemption different ways. Some do community service for the less fortunate. Others visit estranged relatives to sort out the troubled past. A few even go on grand adventures across Equestria, saving the innocent and weak from terrifying monsters and villains.

Lightning Dust didn't need any of that. She didn't bow and throw herself down in pitiful humility, begging for a second chance or whipping her back. She took her life by the reigns and steered headlong into the dangerous stunts her flight coaches told her never to do. With a little luck and a lot of skill, she managed to build a crew that attracts record crowds and can go head-to-head with the Wonderbolts.

But when the rival that sent her into this tailspin of success appears at her show, she learns time doesn't heal all wounds. Sometimes, it just makes them deeper.

Takes place before and during "The Washouts".

Again Lightning Dust's ego and actions have come back to bite her, this time landing her in the hospital in a full body wing hoof and cast, drinkin' through a straw. Her reputation in shambles and the stunt pony troupe she worked so hard to create now leaderless.

Unable to move or do much of anything, the pegasus is surprised to receive a visitor. And not just any visitor, but the same Rainbow Dash she now considers a rival.

But Rainbow Dash has her reasons for wanting to see what's become of her one time partner. Reasons that will shock Lightning Dust to her very core. After all, why would anypony in their right mind show up if not to mock her?

In the chaos of the Battle of the Bell, Spitfire is knocked from the sky.

She finds herself saved not by her fellow Wonderbolts, not by the Elements of Harmony - but by someone from her past.

Lightning Dust has hit rock bottom, drunk at a bar and complaining about her. After being carried home, her mom suggests something to her no self-proclaimed greatest flyer in Equestria would ever stoop to. Desperate, she might do it anyway.

It's going to be Scootaloo's nineteenth birthday soon. Everypony who knows and loves her is going, but Twilight learns that Scootaloo wants to invite a pony neither of them had seen in a long time: Lightning Dust.

Despite what happened years go, Scootaloo wants to help her as she explains how she met Lighting Dust and the condition the crusader found her in.
