When Shining Armor was in high school, he was given an assignment to take care of a bag of flour decorated like an infant filly. By the end of the week, "Floury Armor" was a prize-winning batch of muffins and the yearbook committee had unanimously voted him "Most Likely to Appear in a Future Villain's Tragic Backstory." This really should have been a red flag, but for some reason the Queen Bee of the school still married him anyway.

When Shining Armor found out that his wife was pregnant, he was quick to introduce the Crystal Empire to the idea of a gender reveal party. Luckily, that quarter of the city had been due for extensive renovation anyway and his explosion-proof wife appreciated the sentiment.

Now, when his daughter is turning into a pony he no longer recognizes (and he can't even blame the changelings this time), it's up to him and his self-proclaimed stellar parenting skills to save her from herself.

My entry for the Shining Armor is a terrible dad competition.

Still love this — goth flurry best flurry. Utterly hilarious. :rainbowlaugh:

After a few moments, Cadence seized the initiative. "So, Twilight... apropos of nothing: how attached are you to the town of Rainbow Falls?"

Ah, so Cadence and Shining Armor are two romantic halves of a whole romantic idiot.

I love it.

You are so pony core you're Equestria-pilled, while I am gothmaxxing like a mareboss.

At least she has the lingo down.

Perhaps... she'd overreacted. After all, wasn't it a good thing that Shiny and Flurry were having some father-daughter bonding time? Especially with how distant they'd been starting to grow recently. She could probably wipe away any fallout from their activities with a bit of charm and diplomacy (though they still should have invited her first), and wasn't that a worthwhile price for a happy family?

BEST. MOM. EVER.
XD

Love this story friend, it hits ALL of my favorite Flurry tropes. Taking after her dad? CHECK! Being "goth" in some fashion? CHECK! Shining being a lovable doofus? Check! And even better, best princess just goes along with it! XD If this doesn't win the contest, I'll be VERY surprised!

Should have gone with Red Hair. Then we could have had Red Flurry. No Stallion can have her unless he can beat her in battle. Of course you then need a Dtallion from Cimmeria. Hither came Conan and all that.

Absolutely delightful read, I love it when a goofy premise sees a full workup. Great stuff!

Next time invite Flurry to the Princess conference, maybe a little intervention talk could help Flurry

Great character work all around, lmao.

"I'm respecting your boundaries by knocking three times like you asked, but asserting my authority as your father by coming in anyway."

I feel old knowing that reference

Nay! Shining Armor is a GREAT dad!!

Puts on a war for his darling goth daughter... awesome dad!!

Hilarious and left me wanting more! "Goth"-ic Flurry is definitely the icing on this cake.

This was good.

Then a pony unambiguously named Andrew Tate showed up and smacked Flurry upside the head. :trollestia:

Outstanding, truly. Great use of the prompt to produce something that truly elevates it to something that feels true the characters and hilariously farcical. Thank you for this and best of luck in the judging.

I absolutely love that you took 'goth Flurry Heart' in a so much more interesting and refreshing direction than the norm.

Also

You are so pony core you're Equestria-pilled, while I am gothmaxxing like a mareboss.

Is an amazing line.
