Ok but the lore! The lore!
In the first chronological story where they meet in this universe (the princess's choice which seems to no longer be accessible on the site QQ, someone send me a copy if they have it downloaded so it's not gone forever), rarity was choosing who would be her bodyguard, and had both selected twilight to be her bodyguard from the start and had a crush on twilight by the time she left, which is in direct odds with this backstory. Now, we can possibly square the circle by saying she was potentially overruled and got a different bodyguard whom twilight eventually replaced, but it seems unlikely that rarity wouldn't throw a fit about it. This leaves a big plot inconsistency. Unrelatedly the mention of capra and assinia implies that this is in an alternate version of the moonlight palaver world.

Dang, I wanted to see some escalation when Cadance returned to Twilight being in her armor but she sort of backed off. Also I fully admit I was expecting Shining to be Cadance's guard in this AU of very high profile guards
