At the bottom of Stable 10, the great generator that has kept its residents alive for centuries is beginning to fail. As solutions are sought within, one pegasus sets her sights on the very ponies who built - and possibly sabotaged - her home.

Yo, congrats on the feature box, Elbow!
Also, you missed a ".

The last three slots are reserved for previously featured stories when they update.
Lol, I swear you're a machine.
10226982 Guess I missed the first feature box, then. RIP.
10226785
Thanks! I totally missed the first one, too, so no worries!

Fixed!

The benefits of nearly two months of state mandated layoffs.
"Aurora shrugged. “I want that rifle when we land.”
“It’s not a rifle, it’s a compact…” Julip stopped herself before she could dig herself a deeper hole. “Fine, yes. If it makes you feel safer.”"
Sprucing up your lamp, I see? :D

And finished, and enjoyed it! :)
Oh, and looking at the comments, aye, congratulations on making the feature box, whenever that was. :D

Fixed, fixed and fixed!
;) I had to throw a little self-deprecation in there for the rifle/SMG goof last chapter. Couldn't resist! Glad you enjoyed it, too! Chapter 21 starts getting drafted today!
Only 20 thousand words this time, really holding back huh? Also the last flashback scene has a couple of spelling errors, Twilight talking about solar and Trixie becomes a stallion when pointing a hoof at Twilight.
Good chapter though, flowed better then the last I reckon. Look forward to the next one

Good to hear it flowed a bit better! I might go back and see if I can't break up 18 and 19 to make them smaller pills, though I'm unsure if the site allows that? Something to consider, though!
I'll try to keep these a bit closer to 20k ;)
Oh hey, somehow I missed a chapter. Casual 50k words later...
I'm getting a vague impression now—something a little similar to a magical system I feel like I've read of before but I can't remember where, in which significant magical events (in this case apocalyptic balefire bombing) could basically blow the magic out of an area like a normal bomb could blow water out of a pond, and you'd have to wait for it to either flow back or rain to fill it back up.
However, I think that's not quite it when combining with what we're learning about talismans and what Luna said about ancient times... I guess there has to be more to it, like the presence of sapients has an effect on the world or reality or the 'fabric of magic' similar to the zebra talisman meditation, carving things into a form where eventually the pointy horses can make easier use of it. If the bombs broke most/all of that...
Of course, how that 'reality carving' correlates to whatever force capital-H-Harmony was (and the tree, the Elements, etc.) remains unknown. There's also this vague conjecture from Dash that maybe the big villains from the show were some sort of sign of something going wrong well before the War, and the supposed failure of Harmony and the Elements. Buuut maybe they just failed cuz this Twilight a bitch?
Finally,
Julip's eloquence continues to be breathtaking.
EDIT: Just remembered, I think the magic-wrecking-explosion lore I was thinking of was from Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar/Velgarth novels. Another world with talking horses, no less. Coincidence? Hmm...I'll need pins, string, and giant panes of glass to use as whiteboards...
10228393
I doubt it, but you can always try. Let's hope the gang finally get that the ignition talisman, now that they have a unicorn of sufficient talent. Just gotta speed through a couple side quests is all
Bloody brilliant chapter, also Twi is getting worse and worse, damn.
10228416
Gosh darn side quests! ;) Everything has a reason in this here story, and we're getting close. Hopefully they don't wander too close to a daily quest or this thing is doomed!
10229650
Twilight's such a rascal! Glad you had fun :)
10228030
Thanks. :)
Heh.
(Though, er, it's not just the previous chapter; there's also, it looks like still, this in Chapter 18:
"She bent down and picked up her rifle and satchel by their straps")
Good luck with the writing!

Come to think about it, Twilight being the element of 'magic' is pretty vague and open-ended in meaning. Meanwhile, the other elements actually stand for good virtues - maybe that's why Twilight is acting like such a bitch while the others so far have been mostly acting true to their element haha
10230452
You know, I've never actually considered that... but it's fits so well, I wish I had!!
I'm 400 pages in, this is a fantastic story and in some ways better than kkat's FoE.
I can't wait to catch up and be there when you finish it.
10234542
Thank you so much, that means a lot! <3
Liking the story so far. Keep up the good work.
10237532
Thank you :)
Awwwww finally caught up and I'm so happy Appledash happened finally.
So adorable RD.
This is fantastic and I am gonna be on the edge of my seat to the next.
10237929
:) It's been a slow burn up until now. I'm happy to have finally gotten to this point in the story, and its great to hear you enjoyed it too! More to come!
To build upon 10234542
The difference between this world of FO:E and that of Kkat's FO:E is like the vast differences between Black Isle's Fallout and Bethesda's Fallout.
This story is grittier in many other aspects and far more descriptive, keeps truer to the Fallout universe in many more aspects, brings the ponies into that universe that have been created from scratch (Though I do wonder where are our Mister Gutsy's and such), and gives a far more realistic and plausible reason for the war beginning in the first place that doesn't seem out of place. Kkat's FO:E is very much a conversion almost directly to Fallout 3 with some of smatterings of Fallout and Fallout 2 replacing Fallout 3's primary conflict, while being massively identical and simply swapping out characters and questlines for pony equivalents.
While charming and amusing in its own right while managing to connect everything together eventually, and no doubt enjoyable, Kkat's FO:E is far less grounded than this version of FO:E.
I love the last part of the chapter being dedicated to Trixie's chaotic 'eureka' moment. Although, her hydraulics analogy is flawed. Liquids are considered incompressible under normal conditions. Not to be confused with being pressurized.
HA! Serves you right. What a knob lol
This is why I love Aurora's character so much. This whole exchange with her talking with Quincy so as to help afford him a fighting chance even after he blew the biggest chance he previously had at escape... She's a good bean.
Even going as far as to return the items he had rather than just looting then for herself. I really think / hope Quincys heart is moved by this mercy, generosity and overall benevolence. Hopefully he can pay it forward when he returns to his village. I loooooooove a good redemption arc!
Man, I really, really, really love that rainbow after all she gave up to try to help her friends and help things along, finally gets some rest and relaxation. It's tragic that she and windy got separated, and that her dad wasn't in the tunnel with her at least. But I imagine there must also be something somewhat cathartic to be able to finally be among the Descendents of the friends and family you grew up with, at long last. The part where she got access to Millie was a very, very, very satisfying touch ♥
Oh lordy I LOVE this version of julip; she's downright hilarious. I love how she's suddenly so socially anxious; I can absolutely see myself in her exact position. I really like how you wrote her tbh
Awwwwwwww I feel so bad for Trixie it's so easy to be sympathetic to someone like her; an underdog who tried their best to work their way up to try to be useful, just to have grumpy-mc-grape-teats rub her nose in it when she messes up
TRIXIE INVENTED THE BALEFIRE BOMBS????????????? (In this universe???????????)
(Tbf I do prefer this sort of outcome for her rather than the maripony one of the original foe, so far)
This is the 2nd fic I've read recently that has me absolutely abhor twilight's character, which is such a mindbuck for me as she's traditionally been my favorite of the mane 6
Maaaaaaan what a good chapter @-@
