At the bottom of Stable 10, the great generator that has kept its residents alive for centuries is beginning to fail. As solutions are sought within, one pegasus sets her sights on the very ponies who built - and possibly sabotaged - her home.

...now I'm wondering what the oldest still-working power wire in the world is.
Seems like an odd choice, if he wants her to actually have a chance at returning.
I wonder if Latch will be not-a-dick and help out. It is still his fault they lost Ginger, really.

Oof yeah, I feel like this is one of my weaker chapters. Ironshod is the type of guy that wraps his ego in his actions, and doesn't give unless he gets something. A dialogue heavy chapter didn't feel like the best choice for his debut, and I didn't set it up so that there'd be much opportunity for him to do anything other than bully and badger. Come rewite time, this chapter is marked for some housekeeping. I got too unfocused during it.
On the plus side, Chapter 11 kicks off Aurora's first solo outing into the Wastes! The training wheels are off and more than her life is on the line. ;)
Ugh, this chapter is full of bad decisions. Unless Aurora has some kind of lock on her pipbuck, they now have the location of her stable. No ifs, ands, or buts.
So, does Ironshod strike anyone else as the type not to immediately steal that information off her pipbuck? Because that's exactly what I would do. Schematics are worthless without the proper parts and materials, and the Steel Rangers now know there's a Stable with MULTIPLE functioning fabricators in the area, one which is currently on a time limit due to a faulty ignition talisman.
That's an entire unlooted stable, ripe for the picking, and they have a ticket in. All they have to do is claim to be some kind of Stable-tec repair ponies, or that they have an ignition talisman, and Sledge will HAVE to let them in or the Stable dies.
At which point they go in, slaughter everyone, and take the Stable for themselves.
Oh Aurora, you poor fool....

My lawyer has advised me not to comment on this matter. *adjusts her tie and walks away from the podium*
(Good eye!)
Eventful! The first real threat to Aurora's quest ends up coming from the Steel Rangers. I was trying to figure out if it would be that or the Enclave.
The Rangers prove to be both imposing and effective here. You sell Ironshod as a capable, intelligent character through his effective interrogation of Aurora, and also establish his controlling personality. Aurora almost manages to get a deal out of him, but he takes her pipbuck. Ouch, Aurora - there goes the location of your stable, with all those fabricators you talked about, and any bargaining power you had whatsoever. I can forgive her for not realizing what she's done right away, she's clearly shown to be worried about her crush, but Ironshod told her, directly, that they could get the information off that pipbuck. They're probably the most qualified group in the entire wasteland to do so, barring Stable 10's technicians. R.I.P, stable 10.
Interestingly, the narration leaves Aurora for Roach. I like Jester, and how about that cutie-mark reveal! Turns out Ginger does have a cutie mark. The fact that Roach found her after an ambush and it was covered in mud, combined with her effective kills on the raiders points at a violent cutie mark that doesn't fit Ginger's shopkeep seamstress vibe. I'm guessing a dagger. It'd certainly explain her tirade on a pony getting her cutie mark and then wanting to do something different.
How will Aurora fare on her own? Will Ginger survive? I'm betting on yes, but if not that'd sure be an interesting twist. Can't imagine it'd be good for ol Pinfeathers' psyche. Or for Roach's, for that matter.
Super solid chapter, I think. Good to see the story move along.
Teak's story continues to be interesting, though I'm still waiting for it to tie in with Aurora's plotline. I don't remember anything with Zecora and Fluttershy in the original, but I hope this is something unique.
Also:
Wrong tense.
Noooooooooooooo :((((((((((( this is gonna work out so badly for aurora :ccccc
It's 130am and I gotta work in the morning but how can I go to sleep when captain douchecanoe has her pipbuck >.<
I know I spotted another typo in one of the last two chapters but I forgot to make a note of it. It'd be nice to get them all, maybe save the Absolutely Everything team a little time before printing this

Ah but why would I go read non-horse words when I've got 1.1M horse words left to read right here?
