Just a silly, glowing changeling OC that likes stories that involve ponies kissing, as well as 'other' things.

“Claws,” Novo said, catching Celestia’s glance and answering the unspoken question. She raised one for a showy finger wave. “Ponies listen for hooves, but not clawtips.”

"You still have hooves."
"I never said it was easy."

“Hippogriffs are nearly the only decent creatures outside Equestria that don’t practice slavery or a form of cannibalism.”

As opposed to the decent creatures who are cannibal slavers. (Also, what!?)

“Might you make some with the pearl?”

"It transmutes, Sweet Flanks. How much of your mane do you want me to turn into gold?"

In any case, I've wanted to see a Celestia/Novo reconciliation fic since the movie aired, and I love what you've done thus far. I can't guarantee I'll stick around for the third chapter, but I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing what ekse you do with these two.

It's a good story it's already in my favorites,

Thank you so much for commenting, faving and liking! It really means a lot!

Heh! I’ll have to check again but that line came about from seeing one of the fish-people in kludgetown being a fishmonger. It’s actually quite fascinating to think that outside the idyllic, managed garden of a country of Equestria there are people who haven’t even heard of ponies and were quite ready to treat them like objects. I wonder if that is meta commentary by Hasbro.

How much of your mane do you want me to turn into gold?

And damn! That line is golden. I am really tempted to go back and edit it in. :twilightblush:

Hey, I really appreciate you giving it a chance and reading it even if it might not end up being something you are into, a chance is enough to make me happy!

I had a heart attack when I first put it up and got downvotes within the first five minutes. Like, oof, I know clop and kink divide folk... but... but it’s not even in the story yet. I did my best to warn and let people know what to expect. I hope all of it will appeal but even skipping over Chapter 3 will still hopefully give you a good story.

Also, it makes me smile that it was you who commented first. :pinkiehappy: Can I get a MTG card when it's finished?

I'll be sure to provide one for the next chapter. And feel free to borrow the gold line. I do love inspiring people.

9460532
No problem when can you update

9461216
How about now :pinkiehappy:

Okay I officially super ship these two cause holy shit this was adorable and funny

9461439
Yep that's another reason I can't wait to get read your story

Thank you both for being such dears and being so positive! All authors are changelings in one regard that comments are always welcome and make it all worthwhile

This was a lovely little story. Sweet, funny buildup as Celestia and Novo warm to each other again after all those years, and actual loving lovemaking all throughout. The little epilogue was the perfect mix of funny with poor panicky Raven and Skystar, to cap it off!

I have to ask if a follow-up of some sort might be on the cards? It would be funny to see how the rest of Equestria reacts to Momlestia and her Queen Bird :trollestia:

I am glad you enjoyed! It really means a lot to hear :pinkiehappy:

I did have an idea for a sequel for this one, centered around Luna hunting for her own love in response to her new sister-in-law. Maybe she could find her own shapeshifting queen to romance. I suppose I'll see how this one does after awhile to see if there is any market for a followup.

Adorable royal bird horse things! Well done. :pinkiehappy:

9465950
Oh wow. I'am your first, really? Ohhhh myyyyy~

I am so glad I left a good impression with you! I hope you read more not just form me but some of the others too. There's really some great authors in the fandom. I am still a small fry, though still super flattered you started with mine :raritystarry:

You too, thank you for reading and enjoying. Also hello again! Always a joy to see your name appear in a comment

“A courtesy to the revelers. If I announce that I am retiring for the night, then the party is over. You of all creatures should know that social currents follow the biggest fish.”

Princess Celestia practices the Irish Goodbye? Good to see!

“Since your last letter? I married a prince. Had a daughter. Had a divorce.”

“Oh, I am so sorry.”

“Don’t be. Happy couples don’t divorce. Skystar is the only good that came of that.”

“It sounds like it was a messy separation.”

“It started a civil war.”

This was a really great exchange. Both here and elsewhere, there's a lot of worldbuilding for hippogriffs here, worked in quite subtly. And I don't think it's just lifted from season 8, either, but invented for this story?

In ‘Best Night Ever’ Celestia can barely say two words to Twilight without making constant non-stop hellos. I imagine the goodbyes are just as bad.

And thank you very much for the compliment! Aye, it’s mostly headcanon. As much as I love Novo’s visual design and attitude, they gave her very little in the movie or supplemental materials. (She makes one cameo in a comic enough to say a passing joke that she doesn’t remember if they were Hippogriffs or Seaponies first. :derpytongue2: )

I am glad that they at least gave her that one tiny moment, so that I’d have some basis for the fic. :raritywink:

“I am glad you changed yours when you took the crown, though. Numbers are a pain.”

They certainly are from Celestia's perspective. Bad enough that royal lineages try to look the same, how's she supposed to keep Aurora III distinct from Aurora VI?

Celestia had the spoon halfway to her mouth, and she paused, suddenly feeling a queasiness. “Salmon juice?”

My thoughts exactly. And that doesn't get into the chemistry-twisting enigma that is fish oil tea.

...and even her cutie mark was innocuous.

Not that we'll ever know what it is.

“Two… three… three, you have to do step three, Fizzle,” Twilight mumbled before she looked up and blinked.

Wait, wait, wait. Twilight Sparkle. Is teaching someone else. How to dance.
Sorry, I just need a moment to reboot my suspension of disbelief. :raritywink:

Needless to say, I approve of the winner of the hoedown.

But I have raised students before, and I know what happens if you grip too tight. She’ll grow to resent and hate you.

"She may also run away to another universe, but that may be something of a unique circumstance."

“Hey! There’s a lot of hay in that barn!” Pinkie observed. “Wanna go roll around in it?”

Okay, I'm willing to give even odds on Pinkie knowing Novo was there.

Now, I believe I owe you a Magic card. There's not much to work with at first glance, but with the sort of story, one must look a little deeper.

Competitive Hoedown 1G
Instant
Target creature you control gets +3/+3 until end of turn. Clash with an opponent. If you win the clash, other creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn. (Each clashing player reveals the top card of their library, then puts that card on the top or bottom. A player wins if their card had a higher converted mana cost.)

Wait, wait, wait. Twilight Sparkle. Is teaching someone else. How to dance.
Sorry, I just need a moment to reboot my suspension of disbelief.

Considering they were both stumbling around and flailing into the other dancers. It’s more like attempting to teach. A bit like the blind being led by the well-informed blind.

Okay, I'm willing to give even odds on Pinkie knowing Novo was there.

“Nose itch, tail wiggle, ear flick. Ahh my Pinkie sense tells me I ought to make an implied innuendo here for comedy!”

Competitive Hoedown 1G ...

Eeee my very first one and a fun one too! Thankeee :raritywink:

Lovely conclusion. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful alliance.

Celestia checked herself and saw that like Novo she now sported a large heart on her flanks. Though inside the heart wasn’t a sun it was…

“A CAKE?!” she cried. “You gave me a cake?!” She turned on Novo, but they were already flapping off. “Get back here and change it this instant!” Celestia shouted.

“They’re some very sweet flanks!” Novo called and cackled like a madmare when Celestia chased after her.

Okay I loved that banter back and forth between Novo and Celestia here, but this, this really made me laugh. :rainbowlaugh:

“If they were in distress, they just had to signal ess oh esssss,” Novo sang with a slurring to her words. She raised her cup and blew bubbles into it. “Shoop bee doooo.”

That is still one of my favorite MLP songs to this day. Call upon the sea ponies indeed.

9479537
It really makes me happy to hear that! I live for the moments that I can get a nice laugh from someone reading my stories :scootangel:

Hee. I had to stick that song in there somewhere

9480797
Levity really adds something to the overall story when it's handled right. And you did a good job with it.

Well it is a very catchy, upbeat song. I can see why you might want to have done that. More so given that Sea Ponies are a thing again.

“Mwah!” Pinkie exclaimed.

“Mwah mwah!” Skystar answered.

A second glance over showed Pinkie and Skystar rubbing a bucket and a rake together.

Okay this moment was really Pinkie Pie even for Pinkie Pie. How does that work? Oh wait, I just remembered. It's Pinkie Pie, don't question it.

:pinkiehappy: *squee*

I really appreciate how continuous this story is, if that makes sense--I like how it's just one thing happening after another, all these different little mini-adventures for the two to go on. And they play off each other pretty well, which was super endearing.

Until Pinkie and Skystar stole the show, that is. They were so adorable here!

The idea of Pinkie and Skystar together is making my teeth rot, and my brain too. They would be super saccharine as a couple.

Okay, this was very sweet. I admit I mostly skimmed the sex scenes for the romance and banter, but since it was still really good I'm not complaining.

Besides, I at least read enough to see where you worked the song in :pinkiehappy:

Skystar and Pinkie are so completely adorable. Mwah! Mwah! Mwah!

9464208
Sounds good for a followup. Just as long as we check up on these two and pinkie while we're at it!

9694683
Thank you for all the kind words! Even if people skim a little it still makes me happy they gave the story a chance at all. :twilightblush:

Sky + Pie is so fun to write. You can be sure that I'll put them in again!

Well that's certainly one take on those two's relationship I haven't seen before! Celestia's love life isn't explored as often as some, and even more rarely with a peer of sorts.

10410879
Thank you for saying so! I hope you enjoyed my little foray into matching these two together.

And don't remind me :fluttershysad:. Novolestia has 50ish pictures on Derpibooru, including this cover. My commission is literally 2% of all this rare pair's art out there :raritycry:

At least there are still some good ones out there.

10411231
What made you ship it?

10411405
There is a small moment in the credits. Where stick figure Celestia and Novo nuzzle one another. Which made my shipper eyes light up like Pinkie.

But also there is the reason for the title of the story itself and the question I wrote Novo asking:

“No, why did you send her at all?” Novo pressed. “Of all the creatures in the world, you call for hippogriffs? You called for me?”

In the middle of a huge emergency, after seeing Cadance stoned. Celestia's very first thing she does. Even in lieu of trying to fight back is to desperately say "Go find the hippogriffs."

The idea tickled me so. Like. Who could be so important to Celestia that she would ask from help from? Plus I really do love Hippogriffs and their design. I am sad that the movie sort of glossed over them. So this is my attempt to put some meat on those bare bones :twilightblush:

10411488
It is rather odd, yes - along with the corollary you mostly brush over here "if she's so close as to ask them for help, how come she has no idea what happened to them?"

10411522
Heh. I was only given so much material from the movie, yanno. But did try to answer that bit with their conversation early on.

[...]we’re friends, Novo. I knew you would help.”

Novo’s beak lifted at the flexible corner, and Celestia felt the danger in the smile.

“Are we?” Novo asked, innocently.

Celestia steeled herself for the trap from such a question. “Yes… of course we are.”

“It’s been years since your last visit.”

“You are a queen. You must understand that royals can’t ju—”

Thirty years, Celeste.”

It was Celestia’s turn to stare. “Thirty? No that can’t be right. You would be...” She trailed as she took a second round of appraisal. Novo looked exactly as she did in Celestia’s memory of when they first met.

It's a bit of a sad fact of life, but people can grow apart from circumstance and distance. You might have spent every day of your life with a high school friend lets say. But then you go to college, move away, go to a different state for your job. And oops before you know it. You haven't seen your friend in ten or twenty years. You didn't have a fight, you didn't have an argument. Things just got busy. You weren't going to the same school as them. You weren't calling / writing to them as much. One day the random birthday card or ChristmasHearth's Warming card in the mail stops coming and you don't notice because you have a lot of things going on.

If anything, for an immortal this problem is compounded by the weight of years and all the responsibilities of government. In the intervening time on Celestia's end of things she's had to found the school of gifted unicorns, teach Sunset, teach Twilight, and prepare the elements of harmony for Nightmare Moon's return. And once that's over with, there's the yearly near-world-ending crisis from season 1 to season 7. She's got her plate full.

On Novo's side of things, I put in the bit where she got married and divorced (to explain Skystar) along with the Storm King attack. She's cagey, she's cynical. Seaponies see fighting back is futile. They are isolated.

Then one day your old high school crush calls you. Says she thought about you. Wants you to come over.

Someone you haven't talked to in decades. Someone you didn't even know still cared. Comes to you. You! It's why I started Novo a bit conflicted, a little angry even. Until Celestia's apology softens her. Because like old friends coming back together you that old chemistry kindles back up.

Sorry if that sounded a bit rambling. I hope I explained it a little better.

10411591
True enough. I suppose it also goes to, if hippogriffs are so pony-compatible, why wasn't there plenty of social intercourse below the queen level?

10411597
I giggle because I want to say "Yeah they are half pony compatible at the very least."

And the outside-the-show answer is that show writers didn't think to put hippogriffs in until season 7/8. Once they were introduced, we actually did start seeing them on the friendship express and occasionally in the background. Post-finale Ponyville has plenty of non-ponies living there.

If you want a plausible, in-universe reason. Maybe trains are a recent thing and trains can only go where there is train track. We know there wasn't any train to Aris prior to season 8. Ponies in general seem to have little clue on outsiders. Consider Fluttershy's reaction to Spike in season one and the dragon migration episode. At the start of the show ponies barely have seen dragons, and I get the sense the Dragonlands are a closer than the hippogriffs.

Tourists on holiday don't go to small towns. They want to go to port cities or famous locales. Ponyville would only be famous recently after Twilight got her magic crystal castle (So roughly what... 4 years?). Before that everyone treats it like a town in the sticks.

We really start seeing the non-ponies when it becomes a famous locale. Known for a international Friendship School that accepts students on visa. :twilightsheepish:

10411643
Yeah, but hippogriffs - and a lot of ponies - can kind of fly?

The movie races just seem to fit a bit more awkwardly than most of the series ones - and hippogriffs are the one you can't just forget about afterwards.

10411643
Could you make a non-futa version of this with strap-on dildos instead?

10411488
I am very into 'canon' Equestria, and a possibility of a familiarity between Celestia and Novo completely flew over my head while I was outlining the dynamic of the world it might inhabit, so thanks for this little piece of evidence and your thoughts on it

The story was great too!

11818186
Thank you for the kind words! Made my morning to read :)
