I get nervous when this updates... I really do, christ...
Loved working on this by the by, haha, damn good story.
I know there's kinda the problem of having a war and espionage and mindrape to sort out, but I really liked the segments of Uptime Equestria and the Humans interacting with Prime Equestria in more casual settings. Like the arc with the museum, or when Vinyl went to visit her other self, or The Case Files side story. Any chance of more stuff like that happening?
7654646 we have something planned, it should be following this rest of this arc, similar to what you desire.
7654646 I'm working on it.
One of the parts I like most about the retool is how in many respects, this is Chrysalis' chapter. The opening exchange of taunts between her and the hospitalised Discord is that writ large.
P.S.
Also, if you look carefully into Chrysalis' thoughts, you may pick up on a clue that she has her suspicions about who Weaver really is, one of the big mysteries in the Spectrumverse next to how Verity Carter got ponified without losing herself. Would I lie to you?
7655573 retcon technically, there is a lot more than before, and the focus is spread to all characters.
7649714
I acknowledge that was a badly worded sentence. So, how about this: “They turned corner and in front of them, in the form of a wooden door, was their salvation.”
Well I will be looking forward to the next chapter. Thanks for the update!
Will there be any chapters soley about past experiences of the Human characters before they came to this Equestria? For example, they keep mentioning an incident in Indonesia but never really went in detail what happened.
Unless I'm missing something here.
7656682 A lot of the human characters we encounter appear in the various side stories, most of which are listed in the long description. There's a quite hefty number of them, but I'd say they're all worth checking out :-)
7656684 I forgot how many side stories there are. Do you know which one of the side stories has the incident in Indonesia since it's the one referenced the most in this story?
How did they get that much into him to begin with? An ounce is 30 grams. That's substantially more than two tablespoons full, if it were water. They'd have to pump that much into him literally with a syringe... and as far as I remember, that isn't what happened.
...did anyone else think this chapter felt weirdly repetitive of something? I could swear I've read parts of that before.
I'm still annoyed that these aren't being given to everyone as standard procedure already, but now that they've been revealed as "insta-god, just add crystal" mixture, no one will ever get them despite the tactical advantage. The character just wouldn't be special enough anymore if anyone else did.
I really loved Chrysalis in this chapter.
7656732 You're not wrong about probably having read this before. This chapter is a rewritten version of the original Chapter 40, with much of that material intact.
To explain: you may recall about two months ago that there was a brief... thing. Red nearly quit the story after some creative differences arose. His blog on the matter should clarify his side of things. After that, the original plan to proceed was to retcon about eight chapters of material and replace it. However, after much discussion, it was agreed that a better approach would be to wrap up this existing arc in such a way as to tie it all back into the main story (the war), the main cast (Marcus et al), and preserved the hard work and love that was poured into the last eight chapters. This did, however, require a rewrite of Chapter 40, hence why it was removed and reposted. The following chapters, as I said in the author's note, should hopefully tie up everything and leave everyone feeling much more satisfied overall.
(Incidentally - expect more Chrysalis. She's pretty pivotal to some of the next few chapters.)
7656703 Off the top of my head, I think that was Sledge's "Adrift", but I'm not 100% sure. Even I get lost sometimes with the sheer size of the world
7656747
Ah yes, I remember that whole disaster... well, that explains that. I never noticed the old version disappearing. Thanks for clearing it up.

7654668
Thanks.
7656765 Hmmmm, it hasn't been updated in a long time. Do you know the status of China, Australia, and the Southeast Asian Nations because I may make a side story in the future.
7656995 "Asia" as a whole is covered in the brilliant side story under the same name, written by Kizuna Tallis, who's put a lovely mix of things in there that emphasises the humanity present. That being said, I'm certain Red would love to hear any ideas you may have. :-) I know there was talk of what might have been going on in Australia, so it's worth a think.
(As for "not being updated in a long time", i'm afraid that is a constant amongst a lot of works - we at the Spectrum Crew all have a large multitude of commitments. Sledge himself has been nearly constantly working to help make the main story's latest chapters as good as we could possibly make them, and I know everyone else is equally busy. I do believe that by and large, though, the series' stories are of enough quality to be worth the wait, but I'm probably biased )
7657012 Oh okay, I was thinking of a story about the Indonesian Military. They have a plan, (I forgot what it was called), that if invaded by a superior force, the Army would fall back and take the fight to the jungle (The Indonesian Military are well-known as masters of jungle warfare). The majority of the civilians were already evacuated by the Navy and the Air Force, but a a large part of the Marines, Army, and the Special Forces are holed up in the jungle waiting for the call for invasion. A joint ASEAN/Australian/Chinese Fleet are sent to evacuate them, but met heavy resistance from the Equestrians so the ground forces will have to wait until they break through the Equestrian blockade.
It's a short story in which the story will take only a few days, but enough to delay the Equestrians and have China and Australia prepare their defenses against the Equestrian juggernaut. Pretty much giving Celestia a massive headache as they inflict heavy casualties on the Equestrian Forces to the point they were called the Ghosts of the Jungle.
7657042 Regarding Indonesia, well they have yet to be invaded by the Solar Empire; it's not mentioned here, but they're currently stuck in a civil war between various groups. The government is still the most powerful entity, but the rural areas are infested with PER and other groups seeking to control the vacuum.
The country as I portrayed it in Spectrum, though mostly unmentioned, is that of a hub, a crossroads between Asia and the Pacific. A fair amount of refugees stop by here on the way to Australia or the Pacific Ocean, and it goes without saying that tensions remain high.
I can vouch for our military as infantry focused, and masters in jungle warfare, so if you'd like I could provide assistance, in that the war in Indonesia is less invasion and more of a counter-insurgency
The often mentioned Indonesian incident, well, the only one I've recalled that I placed deliberately is Ana's encounter with Miss Pineapple Cutter.
7657168 Ah, no need to provide info on our military. My dad has friends in the military.
Yeah, I'll probably change it to counter-insurgency.
On an unrelated note, I'm apparently related to the Panjaitan family.

Also, there's a large multinational PHL-affiliated fleet in the Pacific, dealing with PER and other terrorists, while also providing relief. In my head I imagined it as sort of like the Pacific War. Not necessarily engulfing every island, but it's what I had in mind for the various battles there.
But if you are making a sidestory, include some proof of concept - basic info about the plot is fine, but I think at this point I'd feel safer with a couple pages, detailed outlines, stuff like that. We kind of had a huge QC issue awhile back.
7553456 Yeah, that was me. I HAVE READ THAT BOOK SO MANY TIMES AND HE IS IN MY SIDE-STORY, STARVATION! ...I think I've read that book about 10, maybe 11 times?
7578200 Not necessarily, but we do have a truly staggering amount of sidestories. Four of which I wrote. Technically six if you count the not-totally-canon crossovers.
7478981 I get it. I really do. This arc is tiring. But... When we tried getting rid of it, nobody was really all that enthusiastic about it. And I couldn't let us just ignore all his work.
7657529 I was thinking of centering the story around one squad and their missions.
7657563 Bare in mind, there is a score of things to keep in mind, along with the Stampede Fleet, there is also the Dragons in the region later on. Along with whatever is happening at that time frame. Trust me, its a pain in the rear to recall all details
7657646 I'll look into it when I'm not busy with my other fic.
7657701
7657646 I am genuinely surprised that I can remember all that I do.
7657795 Same here man!
I wonder if Chrysalis will say "Nope" to Cutter's proposal. Gotta focus on getting Trixie back to normal first. Though I was kind of surprised for Daring Do to show up like that or be old. It kind of reminds me of the Fridge Brilliance I've read on Uncharted 4 Tropes about the differences between the current Drake and the old lady he met as a kid. Let's just say, the stuff you'll find by snooping around her house, she inadvertently burned some bridges.
Though you guys are aware that because of what you did to Berry the Loyalists have to be defeated a lot more different than what I've seen before, and they'll have to last much longer. Like two to four chapters tops.
"Has anyone seen Scanners?"
Sorry, couldn't pass up a reference chance. Instant upvote to anyone who knows what show I'm referencing there.
