Put the words in the bag and nopony gets hurt

E

Do not read if you haven’t watched the movie or wish to avoid spoilers. Thank you.

The Storm King is dead and the Friendship Festival is saved and better than anypony could have imagined. New friendships have been forged while existing bonds are now stronger than ever.

But it’s not all as rosy as that. Tempest Shadow, still feeling quilty about serving the Storm King, feels incomplete. Something, or someone is missing. There is something Tempest needs to do before she can truly rest and leave her past behind. She must return to the very ponies that brought her off of her path, the ones who ran from her after the... incident.

She must reunite with her old friends. Luckily for Tempest, she is not alone anymore.

Just one thing Tempests true name is Fizzlepop Berrytwist and her childhood friends wouldn't Know her as Tempest Shadow. I can barely wait for more stories about the movie :pinkiehappy:

I was actually gonna use her “full name” but it seemed a bit... silly and out of place in a setting like this.

So yeah, you’re right. Hope you enjoyed the story anyway

Wow. The movie technically isn't even out yet and there's already fics.

100/10 productivity! :pinkiehappy:

While you're at it, you should make sure there aren't any spoilers in the synopsis, as well.

8464700
That’ll be hard, considering the entire story is a continuation of the movie. Besides, I did add the disclaimer and there’s always the story image giving away that it’s about the movie, so...eh.

Don’t misunderstand me though, I value the feedback. I just don’t know any way to rewrite it in a way that wouldn’t possibly spoiler people.

Cheers, man!

8464699
Hey, there was nsfw content of Tempest before she was even leaked. This is nothing comared to that.

Still, I hope you enjoyed the story. Leave a like maybe, if you enjoyed...? :unsuresweetie::moustache:

8464726
Cheers, man! Much obliged

8464699
Well if you have the mobile app you already know part of Tempest's back story.

8464875
Gamelofts My Little Pony: Magical Princess mobile app. It's a city builder app. Last month we got a pre-movie event focused on Shadow Tempest, it had the CMC investigating Shadow's origin. She was the final reward for completing the event.

This story was wonderful.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I found out about Tempest Shadow, her backstory, and how she changed her name from Fizzlepop Berrytwist to Tempest Shadow is remarkably similar to Darth Vader in Star Wars. I also wrote 2 stories about Tempest Shadow, both are MLP/Star Wars crossovers, and you're free to check them out.

I think you'll like these. :raritywink:

Excellent story. Although I do agree with Astorius that it might have been better if you used Tempest's real name when Blue coat answered the door.

Still, 5 out of 5 horseshoes.

So it is as predictable as I'd feared. Right down to an unintentional accident causing her to turn to the Dark Side immediately.

They just dumped TV Tropes all over the script. They made the exact same mistake as they did with Starlight Glimmer's backstory. It's completely unbelievable.

8464911 And amazingly she does indeed remind me of Anakin Skywalker... IN EVERY GRATING WAY POSSIBLE... I suppose she also hates sand. :ajbemused:

8465224
Well, it’s a kids show after all. If the writers think they gotta keep doing this kinda stuff then... nothing we can do, really.

But hey, apart from the rather generic backstory, Tempest is great! :moustache:

8465609

Well, it’s a kids show after all.

So was "Gravity Falls". So was "The Lion King". So was "The Land Before Time".

Kids shows don't have to constantly try to underachieve. We used to have some fantastic cartoons when I was a kid. We had friggin' "Batman the Animated Series" and "Gargoyles" for crying out loud!

The excuse that 'eh, it's a kids' show, it can be stupid' is the mentality that leads to the production of GARBAGE like "The Emoji Movie". It's cynical, lazy, uninspired thinking.

8465753
True, I see your point. Still, it’s what we’ll have to deal with, at least until Hasbro swaps out the show’s writers or something.

Sad, really :/

8465782 Two German reviews have been released, from sites I recall from other movies. They're usually two of the first released during most films and tend to be generous to kids films... both rate it as basically 'meh'... so it already falls into line with my prediction of between 50-60% positive.

They went total 'path of least resistance' and didn't even bother trying to draw in any new fans. Which is exactly what one of the reviewers said, that it appeals only to those who are already fans.

So, while claiming that they tried to avoid making it 'just another episode', they ended up making 'just another episode' with a bunch of new characters that don't have time to be fleshed out well. Which is what I was afraid of all along. :facehoof:

Lot of spoilers :>
8465792
In my opinion the movie was too fast paced running from one scene to the next.
I really like how they met the seaponies/hippogryphs and Klugetown was epic showing us a lot of new bipedal races(antropomorphic shark people yay) of the planet.
But we saw too little of the personality of the cast like Princess Skystar or Captain Celaeno it felt like they were trying to include as many charakters as possible without giving them enough screen time.

That Twilight tried to steal the pearl which powers only showed the abillity to transform them into aquatic forms was out of charakter for her and she didn't even say that Celestia had send them. This part felt forced and could have been better handled.

And I missed the not existing scene where Twilight apologizes to Novo who just doesn't say anything a the end.

It could have been better but I felt good when the movie ended with hope that some new things will be included in the show :) (including the action parts:pinkiecrazy:

8465989
I agree. Some scenes really did feel rushed and too short, if even a bit forced, but all in all I still really, really, really enjoyed the story.
I especially love how they used great songs to shorten the plot a bit. Yes, the scenes were shorter, but that’s fine so long as the songs are as awesome as in the movie :pinkiehappy:

8465989 Oh god... so even MORE of my predictions (which I based on 'how to make the movie as cliché as possible') are true... right down to the poorly-explained McGuffin... my god, why?

And the glut of characters DID present exactly the issue I knew it would.

This is only going to please the hard-core fans who love ANYTHING the show does, no matter how weak the writing. No one new is going to be hopping on board, and those who've lamented the decline in quality will only be more disappointed than ever to see that THIS was the best they could do...

They just don't have the creative talent needed to pull off a strong narrative.

8465994 I wish the creators of this movie had kept that quote you use in mind: "Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest." - Mark Twain

Instead, I'm astonished that this is apparently the best they could do; something that feels like an average fanfic with poorly characterized OCs and OOC moments for the main cast.

At least if it was truly ABYSMAL ("Food Fight" level) I could enjoy gleefully shredding it to bloody bits... but it's so... bland. Generic. Lazy. Nothing feels cohesive enough, but the plot's not crazy enough to enjoy in a 'so-bad-it's-good' way either.

It ends up being like the first MLP movie all over again. Totally forgettable and dumb.

I really now conclude they should have handed this to Sony and let Michael Bay direct it and Shyamalan write the script. It would have been such a profoundly glorious disaster.

8465609
At least it wasn't afraid to kill the Storm King, like many of the old (and awesome) Disney movies have done

There were some things that could have been done better. I'd have liked the Storm King to get a villain song, or Fluttershy to get some cute moments.

But overall, better than the G1 movie of the same name.

8475119
That’s not much of an accomplishment, I’m afraid. Lol.

8475138
I guess they both did feel like regular extended villain episodes.

Is this why no one's debating the Storm King's status? Because they don't care enough about the movie?

8475215
You mean how the Storm King is one of the two villains that legit dies?

Idk. Apparently in MLP, if you’re a villain, you either get reformed/redeemed or just straight up die in a horrific way.

8475223
Three if you count Midnight Sparkle. Sci-Twi destroyed her in Legend of Everfree after she tried to take her over again

Or go to hell like Tirek (though the nature of his second imprisonment can be looked at two ways, given that he got blasted and then appeared in hell).

Chrysalis flew away though. In Season 8 she will return, and I can hope she either dies, gets permanently turned to stone, or gets banished to limbo, or otherwise reformed (though many would hate that). If she flies away again, I'm ignoring all of Season 8 forever and returning to my headcanon.

Also, some Disney villain deaths are more horrific than being magically disintegrated or turned to stone and smashed to pieces. Maleficent and Ursula got stabbed (Maleficent in bloody fashion, and Ursula was impaled), the Evil Queen got crushed by a boulder (though the fall likely killed her seconds before), Sykes crashed his car into a train, Scar got eaten by hyenas, Zira drowned, and Clayton accidentally hanged himself.

8475223
As to the other villain whose death was definite, people still debated him long before the comics resurrected him, and after Meghan pronounced him dead. And the comics are no longer even a factor because Shadow Play shows Starswirl banishing the sirens in a completely different way than the comics depicted.

listen to the freaking critics, the movie sucks

8475429
And here I thought I could have my own opinion about a movie.

Huh.

8475472
you have admitted this movie has flaws several times, stop letting your love for this franchise cloud your judgment, this movie sucks

8475480
Flaws = Bad

Simple as that. And please, just stop. I don’t want an argument, especially not about a movie. People have their own opinions. You don’t, I repeat, you do not have to share them, but it would be quite appreciated if you tolerated them.

Thanks ^-^

nearly all the characters were poorly-written, TWilight basically becomes a self-serving moron, none of the new characters are at all memorable, and tempest and storm kind are LITERALLY THE WORST VILLAINS EVER, also, everyone in this movie was an idiot because the plot demands it, face it, anyone who likes this movie is just mindless consuming what hasbro puts in front of them

8475512
Wow calm down. If you have nothing nice to say then go someplace else.

8465224
TV tropes is a pretty dumb reason to have something. Literally everything has hundreds of entries on that site. You'd also know that it wasn't immediate of you'd watched the film. Sure, they gloss over it during a song, but it's far from immediate. Go watch the movie before you puke all over it for the flaws it doesn't have.
8475429
Did you write this before or after you watched the film? I don't have to argue with you again, do I?

8477696 It was an accident. She didn't throw herself at the... big thing (for those who don't know and don't want it spoiled) as a filly.

Too bad she wasn't named Tempest Storm... that would've been hilarious.

Look up the name to find out why.

:raritywink:

8479058
I didn't say it wasn't an accident. I said it wasn't immediate.

8479196
Agreed. I’d like it if we could all settle down and enjoy reading stories instead. That’s why most of us are here, anyway (or, so I hope...)

Right, any new comments about this whole discussion will be deleted on sight. I’m tired of a heated debate that’s based on personal opinions.

Were you expecting a New York Times Bestseller? This is fan work, dude. Professional-level writing isn't essential here.

8492059
Oh, being professional does sound nice, though

Would it not make more sense for the ponies in her village to use her original name, not Tempest?

Loved the story btw! Just that stuck out at me.
