Try again. Fail again. Fail better. (Ko-Fi / Tip Jar)

The fact I had to work to figure out what this was about was briefly frustrating and then it hit like a ton of bricks.

I've got to admit I was entirely clueless despite all of the hints, until the end, when I started to suspect but I still had to use google to be sure. But like I said, once it was clear, I understood and it felt like loosing it all over again.

In case anyone else has trouble reading the image 'Quercus alnifolia'Golden Oak

Well, I was actively trying to make it all as vague as possible, so that's mostly my fault. :twilightsheepish:

Nevertheless, glad to know you've enjoyed it, even despite the mild frustrations you had with it. Grateful for the fave!

I recommend checking out the music that inspired this story. Not only the title track in which the story was mainly derived from, but the rest of the album as well. Pretty heartwarming stuff to listen to on a rainy day.

Holy hell.

Now that is what you call subtlety.

This. All of this. Yes.

I love the prose. I love the detail, as well as the lack thereof in the story's true purpose. I love Twilight. I love it all. It took me a little bit to figure it out too, but mate, this was just... exquisite. A pleasure to read.

Thank you for writing this. It was amazing.

Also, if I may ask, where did you stumble upon the cover art? That is a stunning art piece and it's crisp image is astounding.

Glad you guys enjoyed it! Thanks for the fave!

As for the cover art, I remember randomly coming across it on derpibooru a year or two ago and I had it stuck in my mind for quite some time. Did a little digging around to search it out when I was starting out writing this story because I just knew this piece fitted perfectly.

Which reminds me, I have to credit the cover art to the artist. In any case, it's done by Hioshiru.

English is not my mother language, so I had to reread half the story to understand what was going on. Still, it all clicked.

Beautiful

Pleased to hear that.

Thanks for the fave!

Interesting idea there, though it kind of fell flat for me. I think I twigged (ha!) as to what was happening when I saw the names. The separator images confirmed it.

A certain Monty Python skit comes to mind

Beautiful. Just beautiful.

A couple of things to point out though: There seems to be a "t" missing in the very first word, and all the images in the story are no longer available.

Came back here after Paul's review and found the pictures now work. And turns out, there *wasn't* a 'T'vmissing. It just hadn't loaded in before.

Yeah, Imgur can be a bit spotty at times. Transferred the pics to another hosting site to make sure it sticks around 24/7.

Thanks for requesting the review, by the way! Doing more lurking than writing nowadays so it's nice to see some of my stuff still vibing with everyone around here.
