Cutsey-pervy mode.... ACTIVATE!

This is the closest thing I've found to fitting into one of the folders In my group, so thank you for that. I'm never disappointed when I read your work.

Well, a fluffy, adorable BDSM story. Whodathunkit?

Still feels a little one sided. Having a top and bottom relationship go both ways is certainly hot, but we never go into why exactly Twilight likes this relationship. For Celestia it can be easily (mis?)construed as someone taking care of her house cleaning and sexual needs; a person's actions provide another convenience. Here, Twilight likes it just... because. I'm not sure what the rules for this particular commission are, but this one could have used one or two thousand more words.

The relationship made perfect sense to me. I mean remember, this is Twilight and Celestia. Not our Twilight and Celestia, but still Twilight and Celestia. We see Twilight being worshipful and eager to please while Celestia, while being thoroughly in control, is warm and gentle and... distant. This is all kinda what we would expect from their relationship, isn't it? It's certainly analogous to what we see on the show. It read to me that Twilight was getting exactly what she wanted from the relationship.

7562905
That's not what I was referring to. I'm not speaking about the "what" or the "how".

7562934
Hmm? Then what are you speaking about?

Yeah this is clearly not a healthy relationship for Twilight and Celestia, especially the former, it has the trademarks of an abusive relationship that actually makes it abusive (you don't need violence to be abusive) even the EQG one, cares too much to go this far... It's still a nice read, but yeah not a healthy relationship

7563036
I told you. The 'why'.

Having a top and bottom relationship go both ways is certainly hot, but we never go into why exactly Twilight likes this relationship.

It's like looking through a window. I see two people doing things, but it's on the other side. I can see expression, but not motivation, feeling, thought, or desire.

Twilight may want what she is getting, but without elucidation or at least affirmation about why she wants this, it's just guesswork. The same goes for Celestia. For her, at least there is some sort of boon, as explained in my first post. Twilight likes what is going on and I have no idea why. If I don't know why, why should I care? Yes, it's cute, but cute things are a dime a dozen. A picture of cats can be cute.

That's what this story feels like. A picture. I know nothing about these two and am only given a small snapshot for context. I can guess everything, but in the end I know nothing. Is this relationship secretly abusive? Are they perfectly happy? Does Twilight see Celestia as a surrogate mother? Is she her actual mother? What was the catalyst for this relationship?

Twilight and Celestia are in a top/bottom relationship. Okay. That's not a story, that's a premise.

7563149
Well, that's what I was saying. Yes, we don't know why their relationship is how it is, but I think we know the characters well enough to infer their motivations. Why would Twilight want to be worshipfully subby towards Celestia? It seems to me that their relationship in the show + sex and BDSM = pretty much what what we see here. YMMV, though. It might not seem as obvious to you. I dunno, whatever.

7563184
Again, that can't be done for two reasons.

This is Sci-Twi, not Twilight Sparkle. That's a completely different character whom we've seen not for several seasons, but a 72 minute run time. She's never interacted with Celestia enough to infer anything.

Secondly, inferring is the problem. There's a line between exposition and the Chekov's Gun Paradox, but this story doesn't get close to either of them. It says so little that the intricacies of their relationship are unknown. A top and bottom relationship exists. That's all we know. Although this may be interpreted as a total power exchange relationship as 7563138 thinks (That's the official term. I've seen these things in real life. They are extremely fringe even among the BDSM crowd and rarely work out, but I've seen one last for years), this story isn't willing to say anything. It's making random guesswork fill in the holes.

Nothing is obvious because this story is saying nothing.

I have a feeling that this just comes down to me being willing to accept more ambiguity in a story than you. Being able to see multiple possible meanings in a piece of art doesn't make it bad art, I don't think. (Gods, am I really turning this towards a discussion about the nature of art like a pretentious tool?). Whatever. I know they're different characters from the show. But I think that drawing thematic parallels between the show characters and their alternate universe doubles strikes me as being at least poetically appropriate. That's just me, though. I'm not gonna sit here and tell you you're consuming art wrong.

It was nicely written and tantalizing certainly. I just wish the commissioner had asked for some actually romping to occur. :twilightsheepish:

Sci-Twi x Human Celestia? interesting, but yes, we hope them to interact more in the next movie. Nice fic :3

This is an interesting ship. To bad the relationship seems somewhat abusive and one-sided.

7562662 This is not an adorable BDSM story. There is total submission and adoration from Twilight like she's been brainwashed. From Celestia there's very little love, or care, or respect in any way shape or form. There's no mention of a safe word or of a life away from the D/S pet play routine.

BDSM without love is abuse, pure and simple. That's all this story is, abuse.

7571078 I'd find it hard to call this abusive without more context, really. There are those who make a lifestyle out of the D/s relationship (as opposed to doing such things as limited scene-play) which is what I think the story is attempting to portray.

7587606 I get that, and I've written about a lifestyle D/S relationship myself in my Wildfire books, but what concerns me here is the utter lack of care or respect demonstrated by Celestia to Twilight. I agree as well that this really is too short to make any kind of meaningful judgement upon it, I'm just going by what i see. A longer more contextural story would've been better, but still there is very little love sent Twilight's way, and without love there is only abuse.

7571078 In general I try not to get too involved with how people interpret my stories. Some people like them, some people don't, that's just how things roll and I'm not interested in trying to force something on someone that they're uncomfortable with. I've written much harder and much softer stuff in the past, but this story in particular I think isn't really able to be taken for anything more than it is: a bit of D/s fluff. It doesn't even detail a full evening of their relationship let alone a full look at how they interact, and I'd argue that there's more affection from Celestia than you're seeing. (Being tasked with picking out a book for Celestia to read? That sounds -exactly- like the thing that Twilight would enjoy doing. She takes immeasurable pleasure in that sort of stuff.)

Anyways, just my two cents, though like I mentioned I'm not really trying to convince you one way or the other, just voicing my own thoughts. Ultimately the story's what you take away from it. The only other thing I'd add in a grander scale is that I disagree with you that BDSM is abuse if there's no love. That totally precludes people in casual relationships or one night stands that enjoy that sort of lifestyle without emotional attachment, and that's a completely valid way to have fun. BDSM without love isn't abuse, abuse is abuse.

That was cute :pinkiehappy:

7571078 who is being abused by this story?

Lovely!
Many Thanks!

You could continue this...maybe Twi does something naughty and earns a sore tushy?

this just felt like only build up to a cliff hanger

Wonderfully written.
