Big Mac has a quirky tradition: He sacrifices part of his harvest to the ancient apple spirits.

Naturally, his secret would be safe, if it wasn't for a certain pegasus mare, and her obsession for hard cider.

Then a metaphorical light bulb turned itself on over her head. The hard cider cellar, of course! Applejack wouldn't mind if she tasted some of her cider, she wouldn't even notice the difference.

I think imaginary would work best here. :unsuresweetie:

6932514 I get your point, I just wrote 'metaphorical' for the lulz :derpytongue2:

6932525

Yes! Wizard party!

(Maybe Big Mac learned witchcraft at Hogwarts?)

6932534 Who knows, I wonder if there's an Equestrian version of witchcraft- Oh wait...

Yeah there is. Everywhere.

6932557 He who must not be ponified.

I absolutely love everything about this story! The concept is hilarious, I've always liked the idea of witchcraft in FIM. Your talented skills certainly did help a lot. The beginning was captivating, description and photo were most definitely a hook for me. Over all 10/10 my friend, it seems like you're a total pro at this so I'm gonna just check out your page. :pinkiehappy:

Twilight is the Alicorn who lived-sort of. :applejackconfused:

6932570 Well, thank you kindly! I'm glad you enjoyed.

On a side note, just be careful with my old stories (the really old ones) the grammar is terrible, and I hadn't the chance to edit them yet! :facehoof:

His sister knew how to to that, not him, he'd likely do the hard work.

Second "to" should be "do."

Thinking positively, it's not like Big Mac was sacrificing living creatures for the sake of their harvest.

At least not anymore.

But nopony needs to know that... Right?

wait what

6932592 Hey, thanks for pointing that out!

I'm not sure if you quoted the ending because it's oddly bizarre, of if I made a mistake there. :derpytongue2:

Mac needs to compare notes with Zecora. There's a mare that would appreciate some good witchcraft.

Unless the opposite happens, and she does shamanism, not witchcraft, and she'll try to destroy him for his heresy.

Nice story!
'likes'

6932764 Indeed, Zecora seems to be more a shaman than a witch. Also, she has a deep understanding of nature and potions. Like an indigenous witchdoctor.

6932764 And then a pagan religious feud erupts between them, with the two slinging curses and hexes at each other through the medium of beings from the beyond and in the spirit of an Itchy and Scratchy cartoon.

6932833 honestly I figure Zecora as more of a Mambo of Loko than anything. But that's just my thoughts. Mac is more of a Druid of Cernunnos than anything.

Not that I know anything about the subject. :rainbowlaugh:

6933443 that really doesn't make sense if you understand the religions. Sorry.

6934074 Good choice of words, I didn't even know what a houngan was. We have another word for that in Brazil, which perfectly describes Zecora - Macumbeira. It's like a voodoo sorceress.

6934087 oh ok so pretty much the same as a mambo then. Although your version of the word is tickling something in the back of my head. I know it from something when I was little. I'll have to think on that.

Edit. Wiki wasn't any help. That's going to bug me now lol. Gotta say I never expected this conversation :rainbowlaugh:

6934094 Macumbeira it's not the 'politically correct' name here, but that's how most of the people call the women who practice afro-american folk religions. It's like a Brazilian Voodoo.

6934103 not sure why, it's just familiar for some reason. My family comes from the Domenican Republic on my dads side, so it could have been some crossover there from when I was little.

The conversations had late at night on here :rainbowlaugh:

6934110 Funny thing - I'm staying for a few days with my aunt and her husband, and he's a Dominican. :derpytongue2:

FimFiction gets weird after midnight.

6934119 I'll agree with you there. And I've always wanted to visit the old country, my Spanish just really sucks unless I want my cousins to translate :rainbowlaugh:

Small world, huh.

6934136 I'm about to head for bed though. Great job on the story btw

6934140 Thanks bro, have a good night.

Because in both the description and the story, it explicitly states that apples are used, and then the ending throws that all into doubt. I wasn't sure what was happening, or if there was (somehow) a mistake, or if the bizarre ending was on purpose. :applejackconfused:

At least Twilight didn't find him. :twilightsheepish:

6934647 It was on purpose. But don't worry, he did used apples this time.

Sorcery! Witchcraft! Agriculture! :O
The entire town has gone mad, I tell you! MAD!

Ah, a hilarious short story. Very good. Very entertaining. RD felt very spot-on in character, as did Mac. (With the possible exception of the witchcraftery, but it's not like the show has made it clear he doesn't do that...) I particularly laughed when RD complained about AJ being paranoid about cider thieves, whilst in the act of trying to steal cider. Self-awareness is not Rainbow's strong suit, is it?

The only criticism on the writing is the overabundance of comma splices. Other than that, very good indeed.

6936442 I'm glad that you liked. :ajsmug:

And thank you kindly for the constructive criticism, I was eagerly awaiting for someone who would take some time to point out problems like these (overabundance of comma splices). I'd take a long time to figure out by myself.

Maybe we should know about "that".......

Kekeke, a glorious display. The wording felt off in a few places, but otherwise, no complaints.

:moustache:
