My last entry has raised my curiosity so today I looked into the conflicts that have happened in my absence. The guard has been involved in surprisingly few conflicts over the past thousand years. Having the pony who controls the raising and setting of the sun and moon as the ruler of your nation tends to lend one a political advantage.
There have been a scattering of assassination attempts, none of which met any measure of success. It seems even a ruler as lighthearted as Celestia will have a few attempts made on her life, though if any would-be assassin made it past the guard they would find themselves very much unable to harm her.
There have only been a few small border disputes which show a drastically decreasing number of casualties. Equestria has not even lost a soldier in battle for five centuries and the casualties report for the most recent skirmish only reports that a soldier took a pie to the face and recovered the next day.
Curious I investigated just what sort of weapon a ‘pie’ was. It is the type usually baked with apples and eaten for dessert. Further investigation into the guards armament revealed that the number of ponies who can make a weapon intended to kill another can be counted on one hoof by not raising that hoof, that is to say there are none.

Ahh once again Luna gets a face full of "Times have changed drastically in 1000 years". And of course is this good or is it bad? So much for Luna has to change about how she handles things, and getting Celestia to do the same (though many how Tia handles Luna herself)
second paragraph repeats itself. keep up the good stuff
Also, I'm assuming by this story's canon the guards in It's About Time will have spears because Luna gave them to them?

I am liking this story, and your frequent updates.
I really don't mind the short chapters - the anticipation & change between 'diary entries' works well for your story.
2917787 thanks for the catch I was trying to decide where that sentence should go while I was uploading and I guess I put it both places
2918341 thanks to you too. Yes Luna will be the one to give the guards the spears they are seen with.
A thousand years, Luna; a thousand years in which Celestia dealt with her own guilt by wiping the stain of war from this world (as best as she has been able). It is a singular achievement and just another reminder to you how far out of your own time you are. What price a warrior in a world where wisdom, commerce and politics have together made major war a thing of the past?
For what it's worth though? I believe that your return was a harbinger of sorts. A sign that the Age of Static Order is coming to a close and a new age of dynamic, chaotic and possibly violent evolution is about to be born... One led by six very, very unique ponies.
Without your guidance, Princess, Equestria became weak, under Celestia's rule were the masses brainwashed with propaganda of her "ever so radiant Sun", history was rewritten, the peace we have known for so long merely a forgery of lies, made with the blood of those who knew the truth.
These are dark times indeed, in this sunlit world.
This strikes me as profoundly stupid. Time of peace or not, they're surrounded by violent bloodthirsty monsters-- dragons, hydras, timberwolves... if they DIDN'T know how to make killing weapons, they'd damned well learn fast enough after their firstborn was dragged off screaming by a hungry manticore.
Equestrian weapons and war are pointless and wimpy
"Which is why I train the lunar guard to act independently and not to be toy soldiers like my sister's"
It's become ripe for the picking. That's why we have you and your night ponies, Luna.
I'm not sure if I should pity or envy them for that.
