War of Shadows - Chapter 112

It is jarring to go from the plush decadence of Canterlot’s royal palace to the sparse utility of the night ponies’ war rooms. Canterlot is built as grandly as possible to display the power and opulence of Equestria. These rooms are hidden deep in caves to hide from the tyrant sun. The natural rock is shaped only as much as is necessary to make the space usable.

Some rooms have vaulted ceilings that rise beyond sight while others I can barely enter for my height. Through all this the largest and most useful cavern has been unused. It is empty save a throne carved from pure obsidian.

My new throne room is inaugurated with a feast. The night ponies’ meager store is bolstered by what I have brought from Equestria. Tomorrow the rest of the wagons will be unpacked and we will begin preparations for war.
