When Canterlot Celebrates Hearth’s warming as a season of unity and friendship the Night Ponies celebrate the fact that they have survived the bulk of another winter, that spring will soon come to bring warmth and food. Equestria celebrates with opulence and plenty and my little ponies must count every grain to make sure they will last to see spring again. Whatever is not needed is made into a meagre feast. It weighs on my heart to see them struggle so and yet it soars to see them laugh and dine before my throne.
How many will not celebrate this feast again next year? In a few week’s time we march forth to encircle Equestria in our protection. Once the threat has been turned away and destroyed how empty will this cavern seem without the ones who have died in battle? Celestia thinks me a warmonger, she thinks I take joy in being surrounded by death on the battlefield. She has not seen me fly from one end of a battle to another to deflect a death blow. She has not seen how I weep when I am not fast enough.

Man it's going to be a disappointment when she finds out that her actions have done nothing to help at all if this is the changling war.
Luna is going to feel so embarrassed when she realises that the threat got inside the borders she's about to secure a long time ago.
She may not be able to stop the invasion, but there might be a reason the changelings have never returned. Maybe her and the bat ponies hunted down and killed all of them.
"She has not seen how I weep when I am not fast enough."
Throughout this entire narrative you have done an excellent job portraying the inner emotions and thoughts of Princess Luna. But for some reason this quote especially hit home and made me tear up. The amount of compassion Luna shows throughout your story for the night-ponies is an incredible testament to her character. To think about the sorrow and grief she has dealt with, fighting all of the enemies of Equestria over the years, makes her betrayal start to make sense. She herself probably felt betrayed that despite the losses, both from a military standpoint and on that deeper personal level, she was made the "enemy" because she resorted to violence to solve the problems of invading forces.
Incredible writing dude, simply incredible.
