Reunion - Chapter 39

I am told that some of Equestria’s larger, more industrialized, cities remain active through the winter months. Canterlot is not among their number. To ease the boredom sister has proposed a snow battle between our guards. It is an interesting challenge. My guard is perhaps overtrained for this friendly mock battle. They have been trained for real combat and will constantly be holding themselves back. Celestia’s guard has a great advantage in numbers but her bloated force will be unwieldy in the castle courtyard.

To engage head on will mean certain defeat but sister has far less tactical experience than me. Goading her force into a trap should be foals play. I will accept her challenge. even in defeat it will be something to do other than laze around the hearth. I enjoy reading and studying far more than other ponies but even so it has quickly become tedious.

A mock battle would be valuable for both the Lunar and Solar guard, the Lunar guard learning restraint Solar and the Solar guard learning tactics from the Lunar. Celestia and Lunar ideally should act as part of a single government and the Solar and Lunar guard should act as a single army. The way things ought to be verses the way things are is a great conflict for Luna to lament on, comment on, and learn from.
