It seems my foolish sister is only able to see reason after I have broken down the doors to her throne room and given testament to her foolishness. I am tempted to make the ritual part of my daily routine.
Her guards bristle and prepare what spells they know as I bring tidings of death and war but only stand slack-jawed as I place the blame on Celestia’s head.To her credit she did bear the embarrassment with some dignity and once she saw her error was quick to admit it. Was she really so foolish as to believe the night ponies would take her denial lightly?
On swift wings her guards fly out with letters bearing my seal. They are to the night ponies inviting a token force to be my personal guard in Canterlot. As dusk falls a guard returns with a dozen night ponies in dark armor. He approaches sister and whispers in her ear that they are merely the vanguard of the army he saw.
I order one of my new guard to deliver a message to the general of the army. It thanks him for his loyalty and eagerness in defending me but that the time of bloodshed between me and my sister is long since over. It urges him to return his army to its home and know that I am well guarded by the soldiers he has sent.
The guard, Night Shield, returns and announces that the army has turned back and is marching home. In secret he tells me that the night ponies are well trained and ready to take up arms should I need them to.

Some of the comments do seem to simplify the ups and downs of Celestia and Luna's relationship. That Celestia=Wrong and Luna=Victum is both too simple and kind of wrong. Celestia being over protective and a bit dismissive is understandable, she ruled alone for a thousand years. She's afraid of losing her sister again and Luna is stranger in a strange land. The first few months of Luna's return logically would be filled with mistakes, missteps and misunderstandings. And of course Luna would be angry and vent in her diary. there are things I think work about the structure of this "story", so I'm not saying I don't like the story, I DO! The idea of Celestia needing to learn to accept that Luna isn't going anywhere and that she needs to start treating her like and equal appeals to me, the idea that she wouldn't learn these things or understand she needed to how ever doesn't strike me as part of her character. I'm asking other bronies out their to not condemn Celestia so easily, I propose that she's much more complex than Tyrantlestia or Trollestia
I hadn't even though about what had happened to Nightmares army. You very cleverly keep making me think about things like this. I take my crown off to you.
...
Celestia really seems out-of-character so far. She's being fearful and is repeatedly showing a lack of wisdom and forethought that just doesn't seem right or even sensible. The canon Celestia would not have made the mistake she is shown to have made here, nor would she treat Luna so cavalierly.

It may be too simple, but it is also kind of right. Celestia cannot go about treating her sister as though the initial rebellion was entirely without cause. Celestia is much loved and therefore has limited understanding of what it is to be ignore and/or hated not by a single pony of any stature but by most if not all of ponykind. Luna's actions were selfish, but in many ways no different than those of any other pony and a thousand years is a harsher sentence than death. To permit her return and yet deny her even what she had before is a cruelty and an injustice.
Also, Celestia is a master of not doing and saying the right things in personal relationships.
Hooray for a night army. At least now Luna has a little weight to throw around in case her sister makes one of her typical mistakes. I have to wonder how many catastrophes were averted by these guys while Celestia sat, blissfully unaware, on her throne.
