At the height of the war on chaos, and before the discovery of the Elements of Harmony, a war orphan born of unusual circumstances wandered into the Crystal Empire. With her fate tied to that of King Sombra’s, she is enlisted to aid the Crystal Queen in striking back against Discord for stealing away the young Princess Mi Amore Cadenza.

Little do they realize that nature is an uncaring and unforgiving place. Being born into that world, Treeling Asheveld lived all her life never knowing any different; let alone giving it a second thought. Lacking traditional training in magic, the only power she has at her disposal is to wield what is discarded by others... just as she too was discarded.

Author's Note: Each character has their own agenda; the pursuit of which affects the way the story unfolds.

The Bearers of the Elements of Harmony failed to stop Sombra in time from getting into the Crystal Empire and acquiring the Crystal Heart. Now the Crystal Empire is ruled over by a tyrannical unicorn, that will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

Equestria is on the brink of war, and the only ones who can stop the evil king of the Crystal Empire, are six mares. Those six mares are the Element Bearers, but can they use the elements while one of their own is missing and in fact within their enemy's grasp?

Dark Spyro, friend, enemy, loyal comrade, traitor, good, evil, friendly, hostile, he no longer knows, at first things were simple, go undercover and when the time was right, strike.

And then he failed, his cover was blown and he was driven to madness by Strykore, he was captured and then in his anger, he attacked Spyro after they were split, he failed again and almost died in the process.

Dark Spyro now finds himself somewhere unknown, freezing and badly wounded, he no longer feels Strykore's influence in his mind and he no longer knows his place, or where he belongs, he only has two goals in mind, survive, and make things better with his friends, if they even see him as one anymore.

But maybe, just maybe, this strange place could be just what he needs to at least try, he knows he might fail, but that no longer matters to him, a second chance was given to him, and he will do what he can with it.

To ponies, the Windigos are some of the worst beings imaginable, but for young Orli, they are the brethren she is proud to accept. For too long, she felt that pony society would only accept her from afar, and so she chooses to provide unseen aid as her kind has done for centuries. But as she recalls the brave actions of her mother, she inadvertently performs one of her own, one that leads her to a sudden epiphany: perhaps enemies don't always stay enemies...

Private Iceland is recovering from his ordeal at the hooves of King Sombra, who possessed him and caused his current injuries. He still suffers nightmares and has trouble sleeping. He also longs for his favorite breakfast, pancakes. The dull tasting hospital food is not helping with that at all.

However, is he safe? Is he truly free from the pony that tormented him and his brother? He is in the middle of the Crystal Empire, with an active Crystal Heart, plenty of guards and an alicorn princess nearby. Is that enough to stop a very unscheduled, unexpected, unwanted visit? Especially if it's off hours?

A certain evil overlord doesn't think so.

This one shot is marked as sequel to Possession in the Crystal Empire, as it is a direct follow up to that story.

Somewhere in the Frozen North, a griffon expedition has gone missing. As the only airship specifically designed for the frigid environment, the Aurora Dawn and her crew's first mission out of the shipyards will be to find and rescue this lost expedition.

If only they knew what the expedition was really out there to find...

Inspired by the collective works of H.P. Lovecraft, though familiarity with Lovecraft's works are not necessary to get this.

I experimented quite a bit with narrative in this story, specifically in using different narrative voices depending upon the perspective. I'll leave it up to the readers if I pulled this off effectively.
