I’m cuckoo for Coco Pommel!

To ponies, the Windigos are some of the worst beings imaginable, but for young Orli, they are the brethren she is proud to accept. For too long, she felt that pony society would only accept her from afar, and so she chooses to provide unseen aid as her kind has done for centuries. But as she recalls the brave actions of her mother, she inadvertently performs one of her own, one that leads her to a sudden epiphany: perhaps enemies don't always stay enemies...

Interesting premise, but it's Windigo, not Wendigo.

Okay, the spelling of that goes back and forth. Thanks for the correction; now that I know, I can do some much-needed editing.

You were probably thinking of the mythological creature called the Wendigo when you were writing the story. They both represent a taboo, though the MLP version represents hatred while the myth version is a warning against cannibalism.

I was thinking of the MLP version, but when I searched for it online, I got the "Wendigo" version. Huh. Well, this should clear up any confusion about the topic.

Yeah, the myth version is better known outside the fandom, what you should have done is check the FIM wiki.

Good point. But I wasn't quite aware of it then.

I honestly have to say that, while your writing style is good (no arguments at all there), personally I see Windigoes more as predators rather than cognitive (is that the correct term?:rainbowhuh:) [Although in reality, I see Windigoes more as the rage and anger of ponies in spirit/fleshy form (That's known as being allegoric, kids! :raritywink:)] Overall I give it a 7 out of 10.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, I know not everyone will agree with my representation of Windigoes; I took a bit of a risk there. But I'm glad you enjoy my writing style.

This had been on my to read list since May, and I feel bad for not getting to it until now.

I really enjoyed the alternate world-building regarding the Windigoes (I'm a sucker for that sort of thing). I also loved the first person perspective in this! It makes me feel like I'm sitting down and the character is telling me everything face to face, rather than viewing the events from an omniscient point of view. It's a refreshing change of pace for me!

Have a favorite and a like! I'll try to read the rest of the stories over the next week or so.

Thanks. This is one of my least popular stories, so I always appreciate it getting some love.
