Amidst his writing, studies, and worlds of prospects, Star Swirl the Bearded is once more intruded on by his most dearest of friends. It's a simple act that friends come to do... But Star Swirl is just an old fogey, isn't he? One that just can't accept a pleasant visit by a pleasant friend.

"To the fairest of them all". That phrase alone brings up the most bloody, heinous, and depraved horror Equestria has in the history books: A beauty contest. A contest fought tooth and hoof to find who's the most beautiful mare in all the land. But, unlike any normal beauty contest, the contestants play for a greater glory than just a sash and some flowers. They play for a sash and some flowers AND the Golden Apple of Accord. The very same famed apple that once bitten by the fairest of them all will grant her whatever she desires.

To the fairest goes the apple. To the apple goes the bite. To the bite comes whatever they want. All that remains now is to keep the apple out of the hooves of someone that would use it for something evil... And to show off how fine all the mares of Ponyville are! It is a beauty contest after all.

Despite herself, Twilight starts to think that Rainbow Dash might be right about Rarity having a crush on Big McIntosh. And, well, friends help friends out in situations like this, don't they?

The Sirens were supposed to be watching scary movies on Halloween, not living through one. Aria Blaze takes on the role of the hero, and fights psychos, monsters, and the cliche of it all, in order to save Sonata.

It’s time for the School Pride Parade, where students build floats that represent the reasons they are proud to attend Canterlot High School. This year, Sunset Shimmer has a few ideas for what will undoubtedly be the greatest float the school has ever seen, one that everyone will remember for ages to come.
Too bad the rest of the school doesn’t seem to agree.

Sonata Dusk is kinda confused. Sure, she and the other Sirens were defeated at their own game and left powerless, homeless, and hungry, but Adagio and Aria are taking this whole thing, like, WAY too seriously.

After what happened at the Fall Formal, Rarity comes to see that Sunset Shimmer's become little more than a recluse, a mere shell of her former self. It also doesn't help that no one in the school is even willing to give her a chance. Rarity sees this as inexcusable. So, honoring their promise to Twilight, she convinces the girls to try their hardest to get Sunset out of her shell by having the girl take part in their activities.

But will a simple shared interest be enough able to open up Sunset's rapidly closing heart?

After finally coming to accept others into her life, Sunset's outlook takes a turn for the better. It's not perfect, though. Now she has a whole new set of problems: Others still walk on eggshells when she's around, the teachers still eye her with caution every chance they get, and she still has to get used to the intricate nuances of friendship. But with her friends by her side, and even the occasional help from unlikely sources, can Sunset help her fellow students see the new her? Or will the consequences of her past consume her future?

And who is this new teacher and why does he seem so interested in her?

Ever since she was a filly, Nightmare Night has been Sunset Shimmer's favorite holiday. After all, who doesn't love dressing up and getting free candy?

When Twilight reveals that she's never gone trick-or-treating, Sunset decides that she needs to prove once and for all how absolutely amazing the holiday can be—even if it means she has to drag Twilight along kicking and screaming.
