An outbreak of a deadly form of cutie pox has devastated Equestria. With the Royal Sisters infected and placed in permanent quarantine, the land has fallen into anarchy and chaos. In response to the devastation, Princess Celestia activates the Strategic Homeland Division, a secret government agency dedicated to preserving the continuity of government in the face of the apocalypse.

As a Division Agent, Shining Armor is deployed to the city of Manehattan, where the outbreak began. With few resources and even fewer allies, Shining Armor must fight to take the city back from the anarchic factions that run wild in the streets, as well as discover the origins of the deadly Green Pox.

Princess Celestia had a good day. Luna had been going out more often and was becoming quite fond of nightclubs, her dear niece Cadance had formally announced her pregnancy—though, privately, Celestia felt she was too young to be a great aunt—and, of course, Twilight, her beloved former student, had taken on her first student and Celestia couldn't be prouder! Yes, it had been a good day.

Celestia Sol woke up much like she did every day the morning: sun waking her as it danced upon her eye lids. Wait, the sun? Celestia's eyes snapped open to reveal she was in Twilight's old room in the observatory. On the other side of the room was a smaller bed where a small dusky unicorn was drooling on her pillow.

Clearly, it must be Tuesday.

Now here I sit, the old scroll self summoning into my face and the record keepers agreeing, that no amount of overturning will save me from having to follow.
Welp, no helping it, might as well try to make this mess work.

The last time the Cutie Mark Crusaders worked on the school newspaper, they used gossip, rumors and innuendo to drive circulation through the roof. Their brief rise and rapid fall taught them a valuable lesson about truth and honesty in reporting. Apologies were made, hugs were exchanged, and everypony lived happily ever after.

For about three weeks, anyway. Now the Crusaders are back in the newspaper business, and it won't be lies that set the town on fire.
