This story is a sequel to Memoirs of a Royal Guard

From the outside looking in, life has never been better for Silent Knight. He is the first pony in a long line of Royal Guard ancestry to earn a commission, he has a loving mare by his side, and he bears the kingdom’s highest honor for bravely risking it all to protect Princess Luna. Secrets of a Royal Guard is a comedy series with romantic, dramatic, and adventure elements. It features an original character cast and their interactions with the princesses they protect. It is recommended that readers be familiar with Memoirs of a Royal Guard.

Everypony has a story. Some tell of heroic feats and grand adventure. Others tell of villainy against the forces of Harmony. The story of an average guard, however, is one of obscurity. They live in the background, unnoticed but ever-present.

Silent Knight assumed his tale would be like that of his father's: join the Royal Guard and serve Equestria. He would be just another helmet and spear, part of the rank and file. And that was all he ever wanted.

However, when Captain Shining Armor asked for volunteers to form a House Guard for the recently returned Princess Luna, it was Silent's hooves that stepped forwards to set his new life in motion.

Sunset Shimmer, Starlight Glimmer, Trixie Lulamoon, and Twilight Sparkle all have one thing in common: They want to be the greatest Huntresses in Vale. With the Vytal Festival coming up at the end of the year, they have time to train and learn to become just that.

After trying, Twilight Sparkle becomes sure that she has indeed lost all hope and decides that she has officially given up.

Centuries have passed since Twilight Sparkle became a princess of Equestria. Yet her rule came at a great cost, and long after her friends have gone she lives on. That lonely fact has been slowly killing her, yet she has always stuck by the ideals she and her friends once stood for. One meeting could challenge that however, and make her wonder whether or not she can truly call herself the princess of friendship.

  In an Equestria where the Sonic Rainboom never happened, Sunset Shimmer is the prized pupil of the Princess of the Sun. As Sunset struggles to make up for her past misdeeds and come to terms with the pony she wants to be, Celestia sends her to find the classic work The Application of Unified Harmony Magic from the Royal Canterlot Archives.
  Right after lunch, some meddling by her friends and meeting somepony with firsthoof experience of the Sunset she used to be.
