Twilight's friends mean more to her than anything, and after gaining her new role as the Princess of Friendship, she's ready to tackle whatever lies ahead with them.

However, when Princess Celestia informs Twilight about a major, overlooked detail in Starswirl the Bearded's formerly unfinished spell, she is suddenly forced to do the absolute hardest thing she has ever done in her life...

When five foals asked Princess Twilight Sparkle to please try and paint the moon purple during Nightmare Night, she initially refused. It wasn't until they insisted (and Princess Luna quite basically dared her) that she relented. She only relented, however, because she really thought she wouldn't be able to do it.

Too bad she thought wrong.

A very silly story that started as a prompt that got way, way, way out of hand.

It's been several days since Rainbow Dash and her new friends used the Elements of Harmony to banish Nightmare Moon and return Princess Luna to Equestria. Sure, there were festivals and celebrations aplenty after that, but they've all died down and ponies have gone back to their lives and their jobs. Rainbow, in particular, is working a late night shift with the weather patrol in an effort to arrange early-morning showers.

She's more than a little surprised when she sees Twilight Sparkle headed out into the woods north of town with a telescope on her back and flies down to find out why.

Twilight explains that she's there to admire the job being done by another pony, one who hasn't had the chance to perform it in a very, very long time.

At first she tried to run, but her hunter kept on following her no matter where she goes. Deciding that enough was enough, she was going to confront her hunter head on and put an end to this hunt.

Friendships don't always last, time isn't always well-spent, and not everyone gets a happy ending. Everypony has their regrets, paths not taken, failures and lost loves. Sometimes, it's too late for second chances.

A horrible mistake has Twilight Sparkle reconsider what she had learned about friendship. Reliving the hardest moments of her life as she is trying to report her own failure to Princess Celestia. Can she ever forgive her? Can she ever forgive herself?
