When I posted I Thought I Knew the Sky, I went into it with zero expectations. It is the shortest story I have written since at least high school--certainly the shortest outside classes. It was the fastest I've written anything, all a matter of several hours over a single day (I can't speed write, at least not without other people. Which is fun as hell, but a whole other topic). None of my usual editors saw it, including my significant other. I even put it up at like 1am EST on a Monday night.

So my own muse isn't quite dead yet. Listless and a might uncooperative at times, yes, but not quite dead.

I actually managed to finish a story of my own again (shock, awe, disbelief). It's a short piece and I'm glad I was finally able to write something simple that still told a whole story for right around two thousand words.
