Discord has many artifacts, and he decides to give his "Dear Friends" a taste of what his mischief was like back in his heyday. At least, indirectly.

It's not HIS fault ponies are so fun to toy with.

Everyone gets lonely, right? If Pinkie Pie can, she figures Discord must, too. After all, how much fun can a statue possibly have?
And even he deserves some company. Who knows, maybe he'll even appreciate it!

Cheese Sandwich keeps a lot of his thoughts to himself when he's around Pinkie Pie. For a party pony, he's still awfully shy. But today he’s going to slip up, think out loud when he’s barely awake, and say a lot more than he meant to.

Pinkie Pie is always happy to see her friend Cheesie. And this time, it’s not party pony business; it’s a really real visit just to see her! He’s so much fun to play with, and he thinks the nicest things about her, but she wishes he’d say some of them. Listening in is starting to get awkward.

This is a sequel to "Goodbye, Boneless." Technically, if you're trying to read in sequence, it also falls after "Flash and Trend Steal All Your Waffles." CheesePie, of course.

Equestria rejoices as Princess Twilight defeats evil, a castle ascends from the ruins of the Golden Oaks Library, and magical rainbows of friendship billow across the land. But there is grief even in the midst of joy: the Princess laments the loss of her beloved books, and a party stallion mourns a small rubber chicken.

None of her four best friends can be her assistant, so she’s forced to take on Cheese Sandwich, a geeky accordion-playing new student, who is both very strange and very familiar. Cupcake exploits, explosions, aunts, obscure branches of magic, swing dancing, and other typical high school hijinks ensue.

The Rainboom happens as it should, and a few certain fillies earn their cutie marks because of it. Except little Pinkamena Diane Pie, who went inside before she could witness it. Thus, she never left the rock farm.

That meant she wasn't in Ponyville to throw that party that inspired a runaway colt named Cheese Sandwich.

However, the two end up meeting in adulthood, and the broke wanderer Cheese takes a job at the rock farm, and works alongside the grumpy Pinkamena and her family.

My take on an AU, created upon realizing that Cheese Sandwich was indirectly affected by the Sonic Rainboom. And in case you're wondering, the whole eternal night thing goes the same way as the show (except a different mare--whoever you imagine--wields the Element of Laughter).

It's no secret Discord's a flirt. He winks, charms and invades personal space on a day basis. Pinkie takes it all in stride as it's just part of his nature and he doesn't really mean anything by it. So, it takes Discord by surprise when he finds himself jealous.

"He's just a party client! The hugs and flowers are him saying thank you." Pinkie tried to explain.
