The Nightmare has returned, and sat upon Celestia's throne. The guards know better than to interfere with such a challenge, as the princess herself had ordered that they stand aside in such cases. Now all await the princess' return, and the battle that will ensue. The battle for the right to rule Equestria.

Twilight Sparkle finds herself inside a cocoon in the throne room of Canterlot Palace along with her friends and many other ponies. She is thrust into a dream world by Chrysalis who is feeding on the feelings of love and friendship she and the others will experience in their alternate realities. In her dream, she finds Princess Celestia, who has been able to cross between dream worlds. Twilight and Celestia must now travel between dreams in order to awaken their friends and stop Chrysalis. However, some dreams are not as happy as they expected, and some secrets held in the subconscious may be better left unawoken.

It's a perfect day in the life of Twilight Sparkle. Ponyville's chief librarian has everything she wants: her books, her studies, a faithful dragon assistant, and the opportunity to go visit Sugarcube Corner on a beautiful afternoon, hanging out with the best friends that a young unicorn could ever ask for.

And yet, in spite of all this, Twilight has the distinct feeling that something is missing...

Twilight has fallen, an ancient enemy taken with her, and Celestia is left trying to understand why she feels so lost without her.

It was supposed to be such a pleasant Sunday morning. Nothing could have brought down Twilight's mood on such a beautiful day, not even the fact that she ran out of oatmeal for breakfast.

But what do you do when your future self suddenly pops in for a visit? What do you do when several dozen more suddenly show up? And what do you do when you have no way of getting rid of them?

During her entrance exam, Twilight's powers goes far out of control, leaving Celestia a shell of herself and Equestria in ruins. Now Nightmare Moon is free, but even she can't stop the Tyrant Filly. She flees through time and space, finding herself in an Equestria familiar to us but odd to her. Can the Mane Six help her stop a Twilight out of control?
