Scootaloo wakes up one morning to find that she can use magic. Unicorn Magic. This is the story of that Sunday. And the Monday after that. And the Tuesday after that. We'll be serving it with a side of Scootaloo-can't-fly cliche'.

An ancient evil awakens, bringing a close to a thousand-year cycle. Hundreds of millions of years have passed since the first time this ancient Malevolence walked the earth, bringing with It the first feelings of true Fear. The very laws of reality bend and break in Its presence. Terror charges before It, and drives away all but the foolhardy. Those that run do so until they collapse of exhaustion. Those that remain fare worse, for where It walks, insanity follows. What It wants is a mystery. Where It’s going, unknown.

Unfortunately, the reality-warping nature of the Malevolence causes one of Rarity’s spells to go awry, trapping her in an unconventional prison of space and time rather than stone and metal. With the return of the Malevolence on the horizon, she has one week to fix what has been broken and stop It, once and for all. If she fails, she has to do it over, and over, and over again.

Oh, and she has no magic. No pressure.

It was a nice, peaceful day for Twilight Sparkle. No three headed dogs running amuck. No Rivals out to prove their superiority. Nothing to stress or worry about. Just her and a nice book.
Then a random pony walks in off the street, breaks a couple of her vases, steals a few of her books, and has the gall to ask "Do you know where the boss monster is?"
Then top it off with the fact that the pony just DISSAPEARED right in front of her.
Why couldn't she just have a nice day off?

P.S. am I the only one that finds it odd that Cadence is lumped in with the "side characters" and not the "Princesses" in the character tabs?

P.P.S. I have now had two people asking me what this is a crossover with. I guess I can't fault people for not knowing beforehand.
This story is a crossover with the book Ready Player One, by the author Ernest Cline.

A three arced story that begins slowly as partially Comedy and Slice of life and rotates more towards Adventure and Dark in later chapters.

Some school fillies have to deal with school crushes. Others with bullies. Sometimes they have to deal with both. But no filly has ever had to deal with an Evil Tyrant being bound to their shadow and have the power to control their every action. This, of course, seems to be no big deal for Sweetie Belle who seems to even enjoy the stallion's company. Though the feelings aren't mutual. The small filly reminds the old king too much of a filly he used to know... Though it's strange the only place he'd seen her before are in these strange dreams of his. Recollections of a past he can't remember.

Perhaps Sweetie Belle will awake in him that version of himself before he was a Tyrant. Before he was labeled evil. A time from when he was a father. Perhaps she will help him forgive.

Applejack, honest as the day is long and just as reliable, discovers herself to be the center of an increasing amount of attention from a number of woodland creatures, and realizes that there's more to her than she realizes, and that her entire existence might be a lie.

Ever had one of those days where everything's just gone wrong, one problem after another?

Of course you have.

Ever had one of those days when you wake up to find you've accidentally switched places with your counterpart in a world where you and all your friends are stallions?

...No?

Maybe that's just Twilight, then.

But the Princess of Magic isn't going to let a little thing like being in the wrong universe ruin her day. She has a schedule - a checklist! - and it matches up with this Dusk Shine's perfectly. Apart from the names and the genders, everything seems to be a match, and Ponyville has seen much weirder things since she moved here.

Being stallions or mares shouldn't make her friends that different. What could possibly go wrong?

Doppel Ganger is an outlaw changeling who has been living in the Everfree Forest for more than a year. Far from all the ruckus his Queen caused with the invasion, he spends a quiet life stealing love from Ponyvillians with his two friends, Camouflage and Mimic. But an encounter with a manticore will give him the worst thing he could catch, a cold.

This seemingly mild illness has terrible effects on changeling's physiology. At each sneeze, the changeling will either lose his disguise, or get a new one without any control over it. Now, it's harder to feed on ponies’ love unnoticed.

Doppel will have to feed on love in Ponyville during the duration of his sickness.

Aphid, a changeling, is now free of the cage that held her, and the life she'd been forced to live as part of the changeling swarm. Employed now as a maid for the family that helped free her, she struggles to understand something that she's never had before...

But the past has a strange habit coming back to haunt us, and it seems as if every employee in the Mason de Bleu has a secret... including Howe, the changeling who serves as the head butler.
