A long-isolated kingdom sits and stews, waiting for its chance to shine as the shadows of the past threaten to consume it. After carefully gauging the situation and his options, King Cauchemar decides to enact his plan, one brought on a whim with seeds long ago planted in the grim reality of the Kingdom of Nightmaria. The catch? Equestria must be conquered, after being scouted out thoroughly for any and all weakpoints.

The equine citizens must pay their toll, in full. Nightmaria will sit idly by no longer, as other kingdoms bask in the wonderful light of the sun. Thus, he sends the Champions of Nightmaria out to probe and poke for weaknesses in the Equestrian line of defense. What little his scouts have relayed to him don't bode particularly well for the Equestrians—over-reliance on Elements of Harmony, useless guards, and so on don't exactly do international wonders.

Though unbeknownst to him and his Champions, there might just be a reason why Equestria has stood the test of time.

Twilight the Wise, Celestia the Bright, Luna the Dark, Cadance the Beloved, Chrysalis the Dreamwalker; the Princesses of Old vanished ages ago, and their power was taken with them. With their guidance gone society has fallen into disarray, and the absence of their magic is beginning to tear the world apart. Starlit Sky is a humble pony, doing what she can to provide for her daughter and live in peace. But fate would have other plans for her, as she is contacted by a mysterious stranger and tasked with bringing the old princesses home to their ancient seat of Canterlot so that they might bring peace and prosperity back to their kingdom.

A long time ago in the magical land of Equestria, ponies changed the world. They put their lives on the line to bend the arc of history and mold the present and future of not only their country, but the entire world. They were ambassadors, princesses and princes, warriors and scholars. Everything they did, they did to preserve and propagate their way of life.

None of that matters now, though. Their stories are largely forgotten, their lessons nothing but dust on the winds of history. Their buildings still stand, mostly deserted ruins now. Other than that, their only legacies are the problems they left for the new age to deal with.

Sunny and her friends thought they had a pretty good grasp on those problems, and they were working day in and day out on ways to solve them. Then another one rears its ugly head: an ancient city emerges from the depths of time and unleashes an old horror upon ponykind once again.

The timeline for “My Little Pony” is messed up. That is, if you look closely, the order of the shows as aired is out of order of their logical sequence. Evidence: in Swarm of the Century (#10) we see the dresses that Rarity makes in Suited for Success (#14) — so unless Rarity time-travelled, #14 should take place before #10! Also, in The Ticket Master (#3), the other five seem to know Twilight and Spike quite well, yet in Boast Busters (#6) they don’t seem to know Twilight at all.

With careful attention to details such as those, you can put the three years of episodes prior to Princess Twilight Sparkle (#65, Season Four) into a two-year stretch of time. If you work hard enough, you can even squeeze them down to one five-season stretch of Summer to Summer.

I used the two-year seven-part timeline mapped out by deviantart’s tobyandmavisforever (do a Google search for “tobyandmavisforever mlp timeline” as the fastest way to find them). Thus, Harry arrives in Equestria shortly after the Crystal Empire two-part episode, and Twilight and Spike have been in Ponyville just under a year even though the Crystal Empire episodes start the third year of My Little Pony.

It has been six months since Princess Luna's return to Equestria, however everything is still so new to her. Equestria is not as it once was, and so much seem new and strange. From the words, to the customs, and even the way they conduct their ruling.

Luna felt lonely for a long time, that is until she discovered the joys of gaming. She even found a new friend, just one small problem, he is human, and not from their dimension. Well, it would not be a problem, not if Luna would not have used a certain spell to drag her newest friend through their online game and into Equestria.

Turns out dragging a human through a game and landing him in Equestria has some unforeseen consequences... Other than the fact he is a pony now...
