To put it simply, you get music.

A series of non-related song-inspired one-shots that dip into the lives of Vinyl and Octavia as they suffer, live, grow, and love together.

It's been a year now that Rainbow Dash studies at the Canterlot Academy of Music. She lives in a small youth hostel, where one day, a quite improbable mishap makes her meet another resident, Soarin, who she quickly gets infatuated with. Everything would be for the best if her new (and first) boyfriend hadn't been the new superstar of Equestrian adventures flicks for teenagers. No less.

Oh, it sure sounds like a fairy tale... But it rather looks like a romantic comedy turned evil.

This story is a sequel to First Meeting

Years have passed since Octavia Philharmonica and Vinyl Scratch first met on the platforms of Canterlot Station. In the short time that they spent together, they became the best of friends. Then they separated, both of them returning to their homes, meeting one another with less and less frequency as time went on. Within a few years, they had only memories of each other, impressions of the fillies that they used to be.

And then they met again, in the hallways of the Canterlot Conservatory.

Newly-together couple Vinyl Scratch and Octavia have just spent the night out on the town. Vinyl blasted their favourite nightclub with major wubbage while Octavia discovered a new drink at the bar. Now Vinyl has to escort home a marefriend more drunk than she's ever been, and in her intoxicated state, Octavia says just a little bit too much.

After a heavy night of drinking, most of which she can’t remember, Octavia awakens to a monstrous hangover. But even this isn’t enough to distract her from the obvious fact that Vinyl is acting… different. Kinder, sweeter, and much more considerate. Something happened last night, something that has clearly had a huge effect on Vinyl. But what could it possibly be?

Vinyl Scratch and Octavia moved in together a few months ago, and have been together even longer. Be that as it may, Octavia has never seen her lover without her trademark glasses, and she can't help but wonder why.

Vinyl is an unicorn whose life has been a complete mess. After the death of her grandparents, she gave up on life completely. Yet through a series of events that started one day, she again became the happy pony and wonderful musician she once was.

7: Vinyl gets her cutiemark
9: The bully-incident.
11: Octavia leaves for the Academy
12: Vinyl makes her first record
14: Vinyl makes her second record under the name DJ PON-3
18: Vinyl plays at the Great Galloping Gala. 2 months later, her grandparents die. She moves to Ponyville, to her old parents' house.
20: The story starts.

My name's Vinyl, or the one, the only DJ Pon-3! Or, at least that's who I used to be. That crazy, party hard, carefree pony who always stood behind the table and spun records is gone. I used to cry about that bygone age in my life, but now I see only to what's still in store; what else I can do with my life.
What, oh my turn. Yeah, I'm Octavia. You probably know me from when I played the cello, or maybe you know me from when I play on the corners. Either way I'm thinking of burning that stupid thing, the Friday night meals really aren't worth the trouble of keeping that thing stored. Other than that you might have stopped by my little store, or seen me with my friend BD. So, that's about it, now get on with it before I make you.
